  • You seek to better the communities you work in, respect local knowledge and the customs and culture of the people you work with, including Indigenous communities.
  • Demonstrate company values and cultural behaviours.
  • Delegate, empower and develop Assistant Project Managers (APMs) on your projects.
  • Build a personal brand based on your subject matter expertise and passion.
  • Work with a variety of client groups in both the public and private sectors, including Indigenous Governing Bodies, Indigenous community groups and organizations, local authorities (regional districts and municipalities), provincial government and federal government.
  • Consult directly with community leaders and Rights and Title Holders, funding partners, and design and construction professionals to plan and implement capital building and infrastructure projects.
  • Support Indigenous communities and local authorities to develop economic prosperity through strategic land planning, land development and business development.
  • Support Indigenous communities and local authorities to plan for emergencies and rebuild after climate-related disasters.
  • Be seen as a valued and trusted team member and a subject matter expert in contracts
  • Take ownership of project set-up, initiation, execution, monitoring and reporting, close-out, and commissioning
  • Lead and organize project teams towards a common goal and establish levels of authority and lines of communication
  • Report on project status by means of progress reports, meeting minutes, and other correspondence
  • Chair project and site meetings
  • Use your communication skills and ability to learn to understand complex technical terminology.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and respond to new business opportunities with support from the Business Development Team, Principal or Regional Vice President
  • Your clients trust you and rely on your knowledge, skills, and expertise to achieve their business goals and objectives.
  • Your clients are impressed with your ability to represent their best interests regarding contractual and technical challenges.
  • Your project teams rely on your ability to manage change, communicate, and coordinate between multiple partners and stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver projects on time and on budget.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of capital project experience.
  • A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, or construction management (or an equivalent).
  • Demonstrate company values and cultural behaviours.
  • Advanced understanding of Project Management methodologies and experience working in a PMO environment.
  • Familiarity with building codes, contracts and regulations, construction administration, and ethics
  • Deep knowledge of various design and construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, contract law and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a client-centric attitude.
  • Effective client and people management skills, matched with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of commercial, people, client and technical issues.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build harmonious relationships with both internal and external members of the project team.
  • Professional industry credentials such as PMP, P.Eng., CET, RA, or similar industry-recognized designation.
  • Preference for candidates with demonstrated experience working respectfully in cross-cultural settings, including building, and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities.
  • Experience building and nurturing long-term client relationships and working collaboratively with Local Governments and First Nations is considered a strong asset.
