:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto\'s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Our Pre-Construction Services (Utilities) team within the Capital Project Group is seeking a Project Manager to work with stakeholders, inclusive but not limited to: utility owners, the Project Delivery Team, and Metrolinx\'s consultants and contractors to plan and deliver resolutions of conflicts between proposed works of the project and existing utility infrastructure in a safe, timely, standardized, and cost-effective manner for quality services.The Project Manager will manage the efficient delivery of rail rapid transit corridor infrastructure elements through project activities including design, construction, and contract management while complying with the Building Transit Faster Act (BTFA) regulations for priority transit projects.What will I be doing?

  • Deliver a project from initial conception through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and transfer to Operations and Maintenance within scope, on budget, and on schedule, in accordance with good project management and construction practices, in compliance with Metrolinx design standards and applicable municipal, provincial, and federal codes.
  • Manage the tracking and monitoring of aspects related to project quality, risk assessment, issues-management, and project reporting as it relates to design and relocation of utilities.
  • Communicate effectively (both oral and written) with various agencies and stakeholders in defining requirements, developing project implementation plans and ensuring compliance for railway infrastructure corridors.
  • Manage activities within budget allocations and schedules, including timely reporting of financial and performance results and any significant costs, security, safety, human resources or project management issues.
  • Manage and monitor Metrolinx authorized third-party technical advisors.
  • Oversee the tracking and monitoring of project review progress, permit status, team performance, issue management, lessons learned, and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Act as a technical specialist to review, evaluate and approve (as applicable) project documents, consultant studies, reports, design proposals, specifications, and contract documents to meet established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Develop and manage relationships to ensure affected internal and external parties are consulted and informed, and that any negative impacts on Metrolinx assets are suitably mitigated.
  • Report and escalate as required to the project leads on critical items found through the submittals review that may have a significant impact on the project scope, budget, or timelines.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline- or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Experience with managing utility relocations, preferably associated with the heavy and light rail infrastructure operations/construction, and/or transportation planning principles & practices, right of way permits, cut permits, and understanding of hydro corridor.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably within the public sector.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Certified Engineering Technician (CET), or P.Eng. designation or partial completion is an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements governing the delivery of transit services (e.g., Railway Safety Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Transport Canada (TC), Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), Railway Association of Canada (RAC), Ontario provincial and municipal standards and best practices, contracts, and environmental legislation).
  • Knowledge of the Building Transit Faster Act (BTFA) and its application to priority transit projects in the province of Ontario.
  • A valid Ontario \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d Driver\'s License is required for site visits.
