Our Toronto Transit Architecture studio is seeking a strong Project Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leadership and coordination of a dynamic and extremely busy subway project design team. They will be a client champion and have involvement in all phases of transit projects from concept through to construction. They will manage project cycle, client budgets & project schedules and have involvement in office management and marketing. The ideal candidate will have a diverse portfolio and, ideally, recent experience in large-scale P3, design-build and/or Technical Advisory experience involving underground transit facilities (subway and/or LRT). Are you up for the challenge?! Most of the things you\'ll be doing:
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding client and project expectations
  • Works closely with discipline leads in the development PSOS-type documents
  • Oversees complete project development from concept to completed project of the underground subway segment stations, bus facilities, EEBs and associated works
  • Responsible for project budget and scheduling as required
  • Keep Project Leads fully apprised of project status, design developments and any decisions that may affect schedule and budgets
  • Attend design team, management and stakeholder meetings
  • Manage and coordinate design within the underground segment of the subway project
  • Coordinate design and schedules with adjoining surface and underground segments
  • Integrate and coordinate with all disciplines as required to complete project tasks including construction engineering
  • Maintain and coordinate quality control of design and document deliverables ensuring adherence to design objectives, budgets, code requirements and other regulations
  • Assist with development of presentation material when required
  • Supervise and review the work of junior staff and provide input and mentoring as required
  • Perform construction contract administration duties including construction site reviews, chairing construction progress meetings and providing site review reports
  • Perform all other related tasks that will help accomplish the project


Qualifications
You\'ll Need To Have:
  • Post-Secondary University Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
  • At least 5 to 10 years or more of relevant experience in project management overseeing transit projects and managing multiple disciplines.
  • P.Eng or OAA desired (or equivalent with ability to be registered/licensed in Ontario)
  • Experience in transit/subway and P3 projects; experience working on Metrolinx or TTC projects desired
  • Experience with underground projects involving multiple transit facilities (stations, EEBs, cross passages)
  • Experience in cross-disciplinary coordination (architecture, structural, utilities, roads, etc.)
  • Proficient with construction methods and sequencing
  • Experience with the preparation of PSOS (output specifications)
  • Experience in construction administration procedures, submittal reviews and RFI process will be considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic skills
  • Excellence in design, presentation skills, technical and quality assurance
  • Ability to pro-actively direct and coordinate staff and consultants.
  • Experienced presenting to clients, agencies and public
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Initiative-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must be located in the Toronto-area with ability to work from the project office
