Our Subways Program Division is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Subway Program Delivery The Senior Project Manager provides comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with the delivery of the Subway program. The position will be responsible for contract and schedule management, construction quality, site safety and security, project financial accountability, project deliverables and technical input to program communications and intergovernmental relations during all stages of construction projects. This position reports into the Director, Subway Program Delivery
What will I be doing?
  • Oversees the management of efficient delivery of subway corridor infrastructure project and elements through project phases including preliminary design, detailed design, preparation of contract documents, construction, contract management and commissioning activities
  • Assists with feasibility and environmental studies, and the development and assessment of alternative delivery options to meet market and business conditions
  • Participates in the development of proposals and evaluates and recommends RFP/RFQ submissions; participates in In-Market activities, including Contractor Requests for Information, and reviews submissions during project design phase
  • Oversees the delivery of projects from initial conception through commissioning and transfer to Operations within scope, on budget and on schedule; oversees project activities to ensure compliance with good project management and construction practices as well as corporate design standards and applicable municipal, provincial, and federal codes
  • Monitors objectives related to engineering, design standards/design review, technical specifications, document control, budget and work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing requirements
  • Oversees and manages consultant contracts for completeness, workability, and alignment with contract requirements; Oversees the management contractors\xe2\x80\x99 construction plans and schedules for completeness, workability, and alignment with contract documents; oversees contractors\xe2\x80\x99 compliance to all contract provisions, including monitoring the contractor safety, quality, environmental compliance, cost, and schedule performance
  • Supports the project and commercial teams during the tendering process
  • Manages key program level interfaces with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensures general compliance with contracts utilizing various delivery models and provides oversight of project agreement requirements where required
What skills & qualifications do I need?
  • Completion of a degree in Engineering, or Architecture or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive project management and implementation, including at least five years of experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects, preferably for passenger rail transit, tunneling, underground stations, storage and maintenance facilities, operating system, and related works.
  • Solid understanding of civil infrastructure projects, tunnels, geotechnical engineering,
  • Senior level experience in oversight of project interfaces including Pre-Construction Services (Property, Permits, Licenses, and Approvals (PLA), Utilities, Environmental Programs and Assessments (EPA)), Communications and Community Relations, Transit Oriented Communities (TOC), Third Party Project Review (TPPR), Asset Management,
  • Professional Engineer Ontario (P.Eng.) is strongly desired and Project Management Professional (PMP) designations is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, etc.), project management software and other computer applications is required
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and apply specifications, contracts, design documents, test plans and co-ordinate contracted technical projects
  • Advanced knowledge of project management and change management practices; including work planning, monitoring and evaluation expertise, to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Effective written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills to articulate and present advice, options and recommendations to senior management, executives and business clients on projects and technology solutions.
  • Leadership and management skills to manage and motivate a team/unit as well as cross functional teams and set high standards and clear expectations.
