We work with subject matter experts to deliver quality policies, projects, and well researched advice to leadership.Learn more about us atAbout Our OpportunityAs a member of the Strategic Priorities Division, the Project Manager will have an important role in advancing projects and supporting policy formation across a variety of subject areas. As Project Manager, you will provide project management support and advice on emerging issues relating to clean energy, responsible natural resource development, and achieving the Province\'s sustainability goals. To be successful in this role, the Project Manager will have an interest in engagement, diversity, and ensuring government policies and programs are inclusive, innovative, and aligned with government\'s priorities and strategies.The Project Manager\'s responsibilities require close coordination with other divisions in the Department, other provincial departments, the Government of Canada, and external organizations. The position is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading project teams; defining project terms and scope to set teams up for success; and developing effective relationships. The Project Manager will undertake research, analysis, and prepare briefing and presentation materials for senior leadership.Primary AccountabilitiesThe Project Manager will have an important role in facilitating cross-department policies, projects, and programs. In this role, you will:

  • provide project management support (inclusive of managing budgets, contracts, timelines, and deliverables) to subject-matter teams across the Department;
  • work closely with external partner organizations and groups, including contractors;
  • perform comprehensive research, analysis, and evaluation of complex issues;
  • provide strategic advice to senior management, including preparation of clear, accurate, and timely briefing materials and presentations;
  • liaise with provincial and federal departments; and
  • represent the Department on interdepartmental and/or intergovernmental committees.
As Project Manager, you will report to the Manager of the Strategic Priorities Division.Qualifications and ExperienceAs a successful applicant, you will hold a Bachelor\'s degree in a related field as well as six years of progressive experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.You will have experience managing projects or programs and working in team environments. You have demonstrated experience in delivering results through leading high functioning collaborative project teams. Formal project management training or certification would be considered an asset.In addition to the above you will:
  • have strong written and verbal presentation skills;
  • possess excellent organizational and planning skills, including ability to manage multiple files with competing priorities and timelines;
  • have a proven ability to coordinate and direct the efforts of team members; and
  • have a strong analytical mind who can also think strategically and see the big picture.

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
  • Mostly office-based work with occasional requirements to travel and attend meetings, within Nova Scotia and to other provinces.
