Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Facilities Operations, the Project Manager will manage all aspects of hospital capital and de-risking projects (HIRF, Ministry of Health approved projects and internal hospital renovation projects) to ensure that scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risks are managed during each project phase (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling and closing).
This position will ensure that the project(s) abides by the directions outlined in the Hospital\xe2\x80\x99s policies, procedures & guidelines, MOH Capital Planning Manual, and Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive. The Project Manager is the primary liaison between the Facilities office, internal stakeholder groups, and the external design, technical and construction teams.

General Duties:


    • Manage, control, administer and regulate a multi-disciplinary team of hospital professionals, department stakeholders, Architects, Consultants, Contractors and government personnel in the development and implementation of capital healthcare projects.
    • Manages and oversees all consultant activities in the design development, contract design documents, including: budgets, project specifications, design briefs, architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural drawings ensuring pre-tender completeness and accuracy;
    • Manage and coordinate with Clinical and multi-functional Service teams to strategize and plan for minimal disruption to the current operating facilities;
    • Manage and coordinate Hospital Infrastructure Renewal Funding (HIRF) projects, in a timely manner;
    • Consults with departments in regards to project implementation planning, and operational requirements to ensure all work is in accordance with hospital standards, policies and procedures;
    • Organizes, manages and documents all user group planning, sign-offs and implementation processes;
    • Ensures all hospital departments are included in the planning of projects such as, Clinical, Infection Prevention and Control, IT, Parking, Risk, etc.
    • Responsible for project controls including preparation of budgets and estimates, monitoring, reporting and processing of invoices;
    • Ensures the completion, coordination and preparation of project status and other reporting as required;
    • Tracks all ongoing contract interpretation disputes and represent the owner as required at all meetings to negotiate dispute issues.
    • Performs cross-functional duties as assigned and/or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Skills Qualifications and Experience:

    • An undergraduate degree in architecture, engineering, interior design or a healthcare related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • PMP designation is preferred or demonstrated skill with respect to project management
    • Minimum of 5+ years in Project Management of planning and renovation of construction projects in a health care or institutional environment and specifically 3+ years working on projects in a hospital;
    • Working knowledge for preparation and implementation of various contracts types, Design-Build, CCDC2;
    • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with hospital operations and environments;
    • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with hospital mechanical and electrical systems;
    • Comprehensive experience planning, managing and implementing health capital projects, including space and program planning;
    • Excellent project management, risk and schedule management skills;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
    • Ability to read architectural, mechanical, structural and electrical drawings.
    • Strong planning and analytical skills
    • Solid leadership abilities
    • Highly organized and demonstrated ability to take initiative.
    • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Superior interpersonal and conflict management skills are required.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including, at a minimum, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience with CAD, Revit and SharePoint are considered an asset
