How will you make an impact?

Acts as a liaison between the client and Thermo Fisher's internal Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS) organization to ensure that all external client needs are met, as well as internal business needs, concerning both project budgets and timelines. Performs as delegate for Department Head as required.

Essential Functions:

Project Management:

Manages a portfolio of approximately 6-10 active PDS projects from pre-formulation onwards independently.

Provide assistance and guidance to team members to drive consistent approach across projects.

Share best practices with PDS Project Managers and project team members to drive continuous improvement.

Resolve project issues and resource constraints within the team independently.

Facilitate positive team member interactions and manage conflict independently.

Establish/practice standard project reporting procedures to client and management (i.e. minutes,

agendas, executive summaries)

Business Management:

Plan, monitor and ensure completion of all activities outlined in the client quote for each project.

Prepare amendments for changes of scope in a timely manner.

Create and maintain client timelines.

Creates and maintains deliverables within Change Point.

Contribute to Unit monthly forecasts by managing project estimated monetary values (EMV); and track / report of revenue Risks and Opportunities.

Act as delegate for Department Head when required (e.g.: collate project forecast information from Project Manager I and II's).

Client Management:

Manage client satisfaction by managing client expectations efficiently and independently.

Maintain a healthy client relationship and when required works to mend difficult relationships.

Mitigate project risks to ensure a positive result to prevent escalation with both internal partners and external clients.

Ensure balance between meeting client needs as well as internal business needs

People Management:

Support onboarding and training for new hires within the PDS PM Department

Manage Lead Administrative Coordinators and Project Coordinators (if applicable).

Manage training for direct reports on Thermo Fisher systems and processes, and support training of team members as required.

Evaluate accurately the performance levels of direct report employees and communicate openly and with constructive feedback to fully develop potential.

Work with direct reports to implement and roll-out project management practices.

Strategic Initiatives:

Lead strategic initiatives and solutions for PDS and/or client. Suggest improvements to systems or processes and be involved in implementing them. Work closely with site management to optimize requirements of both

Identify opportunities to improve performance of PDS PM Department with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness and supports continuous improvement initiatives to drive the performance of the PDS PM Department, the Site, and the Network (as appropriate)

Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards.

How will you get there?

Education:

College Diploma in related field.

Bachelor's degree in Science, Pharmacy, Engineering or Business an asset.

Experience:

Minimum 8 years industry experience

Minimum 5 years project/client management experience.

Minimum 3 years proven experience in leading product development teams.

Experience managing direct reports.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Well organized with strong attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize multiple project deliverables and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to motivate and influence others.

Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work both in a team environment as well as independently.

Ability to identify and mitigate risks and apply independent problem-solving skillset.

Strong negotiating skills.

Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices is an asset.

Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and database management skills. Proficiency with English language.
