The Opportunity

Integrated Youth Services (IYS) is a dynamic pan-Canadian and international movement that aims to build effective, youth-focused and integrated services for mental health, substance use and related issues. The IWK Mental Health and Addictions program is leading and serving as the backbone organization for Integrated Youth Services, Nova Scotia which is a model based on community partnerships to better serve young people in our province. Informed by a national integrated youth services model, IYS Nova Scotia brings together key partners to offer low barrier, easy to access, youth friendly services, designed with youth and community where youth aged 12 to 25 can access a range of high quality, integrated services. In this model, multisectoral partners from mental health and addictions, DCS, education, primary care and social service organizations work collaboratively with youth and families to address youth needs in many areas of their lives.

The IWK will facilitate the development of a co-designed and community led Integrated Youth Services in Nova Scotia.

Position Summary

The Project Manager (PM) plays a critical role in the development and implementation of Integrated Youth Services (IYS) across Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Director of IYS, the Project Manager is responsible for the engagement and ongoing collaboration with the community, for developing key community partnerships and consensus building aimed at improving access, quality and coordination of IYS services. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the projects involved with IYS-NS implementation. This includes but not limited to conducting needs assessments, stakeholder focus groups, change management, project analysis, project tracking, identifying obstacles and solutions along with producing reports. The PM will support IYS improvement initiatives and strategic change in collaboration with IYS Director.

Hours of Work

Monday - Friday; 8:30-4:30 (37.5 hours per week). Some evening work and flexibility may be required.

This is a hybrid work model - working from home and as need on-site

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Health Sciences or Industrial Engineering required.
  • Registration with applicable licensing body.
  • Formal training in Project Management required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading projects required, preferably within health care and/or mental health and addictions.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience within a mental health and addictions program preferred.
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills including project design, developing comprehensive work plans, community engagement and consultation, future project forecasting, project execution and budget management.
  • Ability to chronical the implementation and scale of IYS sites across Nova Scotia.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health and addictions services across Nova Scotia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LEAN Health Care methods.
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills required.
  • Demonstrated skills in collaboration, management of stakeholder communication.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, Mi'kmaw preferred.
