Core Purpose & Essence of the Position

Manage & implement large scale supply chain projects across multiple destinations in Canada. The projects include setting up a new Distribution Center, executing large scale automation projects, client startups & supporting various operational teams to stay on plan. The Engineering Project Manager will report to Sr. Manager of Engineering, but will also work closely with key stakeholders in Operations, Business Development, WMS Engineers, HR & IT.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Project Management

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to oversee, implement & monitor major warehouse projects
  • Develop project implementation strategy & implementation schedule using DSV's standard processes
  • Lead & deliver successful implementations on time, on budget & with high customer satisfaction
  • Support major changes within the warehouse with regards to processes, MHE, WMS, automation & mechanization
Client / Vendor Management
  • Collaborate with various vendors to ensure construction, building fit up, racking & MHE procurement are planned & executed
  • Work with client to build & manage inventory transition & building readiness for testing & operational Go live
  • Work closely with client's leadership team during scope development & detailed design phase
Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with Operations to develop & implement training programs, KPIs, SOPs, UAT, process handovers etc.
  • Work closely with WMS & IT engineers to manage testing / implementation, IT scope, budget & change management
  • Work closely with HR to execute hiring plans, facilitate onboarding of operational teams to support testing & Go-live of new clients
Technical
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process efficiencies & operational / system compliance of designed solutions
  • Problem solving facilitation & training where required
  • Effective communicator on opportunities for risks, budget variances, scope creep etc.
  • Prepare presentations & status reports for internal & external stakeholders
Required Competencies
Minimum Education &/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics required or equivalent combination of education & work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in warehouse / 3PL environment is highly desirable
  • Minimum 3-5 years' of Project Management experience is required
  • PMP designation or working towards one is highly desirable
  • Lean Sigma Green Belt certification is highly desirable
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
  • Strong proficiency of MS Project & MS Excel is required
  • Intermediate Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferrable
  • Knowledge of MS Power BI & MS Visio is preferrable
Communication Skills
  • Excellent verbal & written skills
  • Able to communicate concepts, drive discussions to generate ideas & solve problems
  • Customize response based on audience
Organizational Skills
  • Task prioritization & time management skill
  • Able to set expectations across various stakeholders and delegate tasks as required
Other
  • This position will require frequent travel to DSV's site across Canada. Willingness to relocate within Canada would be considered an asset.
  • Client / vendor visits as necessary within & outside of Canada
  • Knowledge of basic engineering finances & accounting principles
  • Knowledge of warehousing processes, systems & equipment (MHE)
  • Knowledge of WMS
