Overview
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services and Innovation, the Project Manager of Energy Management is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a portfolio wide energy management and building automation program.
Responsibilities
Building Automation Manage the life cycle of all building automation projects throughout the entire portfolio. Conduct site visits to prepare layout and installation drawings. Assist in the tendering and management of the projects, conducting on and off-site testing as needed. Maintain building automation systems after installation including setting set-points, reviewing trend logs, completing software upgrades and regularly calibrating the system to maximize savings. Communicate with Site Staff, Property Managers and Contractors as required.
Energy Management
Work closely with Project Managers to create scopes of work for tendering new energy management systems. Assist with hydro procurement and sub-metering projects as they arise across the portfolio. Complete other projects as required, seeking to maximize energy savings and responding to alarms. Oversee lighting and water retrofits, finalizing mechanical equipment for new development projects.

Administration and Reporting Assist with the preparation of utility budgets and energy rebate applications. Regularly complete portfolio-wide energy variance and benchmarking analysis to ensure targets are met and identify outliers. Assist in preparing maintenance tenders and reviewing mechanical equipment deficiency reports. Pro-actively monitor building energy consumption and costs utilizing an energy monitoring system, flagging variances as they are identified. Support the configuration of building automation systems trend data for collection and analysis. Assist the Project Managers and Property Managers with the creation, implementation and maintenance of service contracts. Resolve disputes with service providers as they arise or occur. Submit energy consumption reports to the applicable regulating body according to established timelines and requirements. Issue Purchase Orders in Yardi for all service contracts. Manage the administration of cogeneration reporting on a quarterly and annual basis. Tender, create and annually review all technical service contracts. Administer the service contract page in SmartSheets. Complete other tasks assigned by the Vice President of Technical Services and Innovation as required.
Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in energy management and/or building automation;
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in sustainable energy, building technology or related field;
  • Experience with maintaining building automation systems and conducting utility benchmarking and variance reports;
  • Knowledge of applicable incentive programs offered for energy related projects;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-tasks;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to resolve problems using facts, sound reasoning and common sense;
  • Forward thinking with an ability to develop creative strategic solutions to issues;
  • Strong follow-up skills with the ability to effectively resolve difficult issues in a timely manner; and
  • Experience with Yardi property management systems and Wyse Synergy considered an asset.
