invites applications for a

Project Manager Alberta's AMR Framework-Antimicrobial Stewardship in Primary Care

. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 24 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.


This project plan outlines the strategy, plan, and components of the first activity as part of Alberta's One Health AMR Framework for Action: The development of a digital antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) Campaign and AMS Toolkit which is easily accessed, algorithmic, and widely available targeted towards primary care prescribing practitioners with messaging focused on the prioritization of adherence to AMS guidelines. The digital AMS Campaign and easily accessible, algorithmic AMS Toolkit will be piloted within 3-5 pilot Primary Care Networks ("PCN", or equivalent entities such as "Regional Networks") in Primary Care Alberta. The work will be undertaken by the AMR - One Health Consortium on behalf of the Government of Alberta (Alberta Health, Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH)).


Reporting directly to the Scientific Director of the AMR - One Health Consortium, the Project Manager will lead this newly funded project on behalf of the Government of Alberta at the University of Calgary to develop and launch a digital antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) campaign and toolkit for primary care prescribers. The toolkit will be piloted in 3-5 Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Alberta.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):

Develop and launch the AMS campaign and toolkit containing AMS resources and launch of the Campaign Oversee and manage the project, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and deliverables Provide strategic guidance and hands-on support to project teams, particularly in evaluation research Establish and maintain collaborations with key actors in healthcare settings, government agencies, and multiple sectors Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies in an evolving health system environment Liaise with stakeholders, including government representatives, to ensure alignment with broader health initiatives Prepare high-quality reports, proposals, and other documentation to support project goals Full scope of managerial discretion on hiring, performance reviews, and discipline up to and including termination for direct reports (e.g. Research Associate)

Qualifications / Requirements:



Graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in a health-related field Minimum 3 years of project management experience in a research or health system quality improvement setting Experience and expertise in antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial stewardship in human health context Experience in program planning and implementation is required; demonstration that this skill was developed while actively delivering AMS initiatives would be a significant asset Demonstrated expertise in evaluation research and stakeholder engagement Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and risks Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience building collaborations across sectors Knowledge of antimicrobial resistance and stewardship considered an asset Leadership experience, including staff supervision Experience working with government, particularly with the Government of Alberta, would be considered an asset, as the Project Manager will collaborate closely with their teams
