Project Engineer - Tunnels Delve Underground has an opportunity available for a Project Engineer to join its team in Vancouver. This position is well suited for an engineer (degree either in civil or geological engineering) with an interest in consulting engineering for the heavy civil and underground construction industry. The company is seeking a candidate with 4 to 8 years of experience, preferably in the design and construction of tunnels and underground structures. Experience in trenchless crossings, support of excavation and foundations would also be complementary. The ideal candidate would have construction experience on a project with TBM tunnelling. This position offers a great opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented, team-centric engineer to work on high-profile tunnelling projects in BC and AB. The successful candidate will work primarily at a project site in the Lower Mainland. Responsibilities:

  • Provide field engineering services for the Construction Management (CM) team for a major tunnel project in the Lower Mainland
  • Support the Construction Manager and Assistant Construction Manager in preparing deliverables related to contract administration/construction management.
  • Perform construction field reviews, as required, and prepare field reports
  • Prepare weekly and monthly construction reports
  • Analyze tunnel data and evaluate performance. Identify and analyze risks.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings with CM team, contractor and client.
  • Accountability for quality of product including analysis, reporting, and construction reviews
  • Review construction submittals, QA data relative to construction specifications.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks in a timeline manner is critical
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, and scheduling of Delve staff
  • Professionally communicate with clients and sub-consultants and other stakeholders as required.
  • Willing to travel in the Lower Mainland to project sites and to work on a combination of construction site and office work
  • Willing to work extended and irregular hours, when necessary
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in geological or civil engineering, specializing in geotechnical or structural
  • 4-8 years experience, heavy civil and tunnelling experience preferred
  • Ideally is a registered P.Eng. or an EIT close to meeting P.Eng requirements
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Local experience in major infrastructure project design is an asset
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of TBM tunnelling
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and strong leadership qualities
  • Class 5 (or equivalent) driver\'s license
