Technical Analyst / Project Engineer

Intertek is searching for a Technical Analyst / Project Engineer, to join our Electrical and Wireless team in our Edmonton, Alberta office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Hazardous Locations!

The Technical Analyst/ Project Engineer will be responsible for performing evaluations on electronic and industrial equipment, preparing technical reports and performing testing.

What you'll do:

  • Listed examples are illustrative and representative of the tasks required of this position and are not intended to be complete or exclusive.
  • Evaluate the conformance of equipment against published standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc)
  • Preparing technical reports.
  • Extracting and compiling engineering data.
  • Preparing project files for compliance with operating procedures.
  • Making recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation of standards.
  • Communicating with clients and management.
  • Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with standards.
  • Analyzing test data and performing calculations.
  • Providing training and work instructions to lower level technicians.
  • May oversee the work of lower level technicians.
  • Performing other work as required.
  • Carrying out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with total adherence to: The Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, Quality Management System, Compliance and Ethics Policies, Vision, Mission and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology.
  • 1-2 years directly related experience desired but not required. This position is available as entry level but can also be a senior level position to those with certification experience.
  • The candidate should be detail oriented and able to work through detailed schematics and component specifications.
  • Ability to utilize basic electrical test equipment to setup and perform tests.
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to apply engineering concepts and standard requirements to physical product evaluation.
  • Ability to project manage unsupervised (plan, manage, communicate, complete)
  • Strong communication skills.
