We are looking for a Project Cost Control Analyst who is responsible for project cost controls activities. The Analyst will be developing and interpreting complex data and reports including budget/estimate, capital expenditure/addition, cost performance, earned value and other program/project performance measures. Through your knowledge and experience of project management tools and best practices, the Project Cost Controls Analyst is essential for maintaining quality and control aspects for successful project execution.

Major Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver cost and schedule integration, monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with estimating, project management and scheduling to produce full lifecycle cost analysis.

Interface with key internal project team members to ensure consistency and accuracy of cost deliverables

Monitor actual and planned cost against baseline; measure performance and progress against forecast contributing to analysis and variance explanation.

Develop tools and procedures for implementation of industry recognized earned value control measures that accurately indicate the cost impact of project activities.

Identify cost and schedule risks to projects. Prepare and present recommendations for remedial action where deviations occur, include trends in the forecast, or develop mitigation or corrective measures

Update, maintain, analyze and communicate cost commitments and associated changes. . Responsible for change value management in coordination with the project manager.

Analyze and interpret changes to baseline estimates and new forecast in collaboration with the project management team.

Identified cost and schedule risks to projects, perform risk analysis and monitor, control and communicate risks throughout project lifecycle

Provides project controls expertise during internal/external audits

Propose and participate in improvements to project controls processes, approaches and techniques

Share expertise with other work groups and acts as resource for colleagues with less experience

Reviews project expenditure information develop regular performance reports to monitor cost and progress and reports performance and progress deviations.

Ensures that all labour, service, equipment and material costs are correctly recorded in the system of record.

Support Supply Chain Procurement activities as needed for contractual requirements to external contractors

Work with the Project Manager to evaluate the performance of contractors and vendors as it relates to cost schedule and their management practices. Monitors contractor and vendor's equipment and material costs.

Education Required:

University degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or equivalent combined education and work experience

AACE and PMI member - Certified Cost Engineer and Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred

Qualifications & Experience:

Demonstrated 7 years' experience with cost and schedule control in an engineering or construction environment

Working knowledge in Primavera P6 is an asset.

Broad knowledge and experience of project management, process management and construction practices

Familiarity with AACEI Total Cost Management tools and techniques

Experience with Maximo is considered an asset

Detail-oriented and demonstrated competency in analysis, process improvement and problem-solving.

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to easily communicate complex technical information to different audiences.

Salary: Financial/Business Analyst Level C (Current CUPE 2022 rates)

$91,830.10 - $97,622.80 - $103,336.14 - $109,029.65 - $114,802.51

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
