Project Coordinator
Primary Purpose: This Project Coordinator role is for the Apihkatatan project, which is overseen by Pewaseskwan (the Indigenous Wellness Research Group). This project is about supporting Indigenous women with lived experience of the criminal justice system. The aim is to help them on their wholistic wellness journeys through population-level intervention research involving land- and culture-based healing.
The incumbent will coordinate the creation of a curriculum focused on land- and culture-based healing (L&CBH). This will include gender-affirming and trauma-informed expressive therapy (ET) for Indigenous women living in Saskatchewan, mainly in Saskatoon.
The Project Coordinator is expected to be a visionary leader who represents Pewaseskwan to the public and its stakeholders. Reporting to the Principal Investigators, with day-to-day direction from the Executive Director, the Project Coordinator will lead the management and coordination of research activities related to the project(s) using Indigenous ways of knowing and doing.
Nature of Work:As a valued member of Pewaseskwan at the University of Saskatchewan, the Project Coordinator will collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders and coordinate the entire study from planning, survey development, pilot testing, survey distribution, data collection and analysis to knowledge translation activities and manuscript writing.
The Project Coordinator will embrace the concepts of community engagement, consultation, partnership and self-determination. This position requires a high level of independence, interpersonal skills and knowledge of Indigenous philosophies and methodologies.
