Your Opportunity:The Coordinator, Medical Affairs is a professional role in the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Portfolio reporting to the Program Director, Physican Compensation and Care Model planning. The position is responsible for coordinating the day to day operations of Medical Affairs projects or programs and short to medium term planning for those projects/programs. This coordination is done in collaboration with Medical Leaders, Medical Affairs management and from time to time other Medical Affairs colleagues however the primary responsibility for understanding project/program needs, developing plans and coordinating their successful implementation rests with the Coordinator. The specific content area assigned to a particular Coordinator\'s portfolio will vary from individual to individual and potentially from time to time. The core responsibilities of the role however are consistent between individuals and over time. The Coordinator is expected to understand and be able to communicate the reasons why the project or program is an AHS priority and why the individual elements of the project or program contribute to overall success. That understanding in turn enables the Coordinator to identify opportunities and plans for improvement rather than just following a inherited set of processes and steps that are simply repeated. The Coordinator must maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders for each respective project or program they work within.Description:The Coordinator must maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders for each respective project or program they work within. In particular, this includes the physicians providing the clinical services ultimately required from the project or program, operational and administrative staff who support the clinical service delivery, Medical Affairs colleagues and often colleagues in other AHS portfolios such as Accounts Payable, Human Resources, Health Information Management, Data & Information, and/or Quality Healthcare Improvement. In some cases, the coordinator may also interact regularly with Alberta Health or University program staff.

Required Qualifications:The candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Health Services Administration, Business, Economics, Arts/Sciences, Nursing, or other equivalent preparation. A minimum of two years of project or program management, data analysis, policy advisor, or other similar experience, preferably in a health-related field, is required. Equivalencies may be considered. Ability to apply general principles/theories to specific circumstances and can creatively solve problems within boundaries provided. Ability to think strategically: understands long-term goals to create aligned short term plans and processes. Ability to plan and implement projects of moderate scope and complexity, whether new projects or incremental improvements to existing projects/programs: able to break overall outcomes into milestones and subtasks, develop a plan to achieve those milestones and subtasks, identifies risks and mitigation options, and delivers effective progress updates to management. Ability to foster partnerships and cooperation to achieve organizational goals within Medical Affairs teams and with outside teams.
Additional Required Qualifications:Superior skills in communication, analysis, critical and creative thinking, and facilitation. The candidate will have competence in managing multiple projects; the ability to conceptualize, self-manage, prioritize, and work in a fluid environment where many factors are ambiguous; an ability to communicate complex and sometimes difficult messages clearly in written and verbal mediums; general finance/budgeting/accounting skills; and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
