The opportunity:



The Project Administration Lead (PAL) will provide administrative oversight for a multidisciplinary prairie-wide research project (Viral Vector Vaccine or 3VP) representing the Universities of Manitoba (UM), Alberta, Calgary, and the USask's Vaccine Infectious Disease Organization in supporting Canada's pandemic readiness. This multi-institutional research team will establish an R&D cluster for the prairies and will design and develop vaccine platforms that are of high efficacy, with minimum side effects, and easy to manufacture. This research consortium brings vast expertise in virology, immunology, infectious disease pathologies, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and bioprocessing to deliver a manufacturing process development pipeline. In addition, this project will be associated with new $57 M research and development infrastructure critical for vaccine manufacturing, and as such, will liaise with the Director of Biomedical Research Infrastructure.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:



A Bachelor's degree in science (biology/microbiology/immunology) or a related field is required. A Mater's degree in science or PhD in a related field is preferred. Project Management certification would be an asset. Five (5) years of relevant experience in a research project management environment are required. Robust understanding and/or experience in managing project budgets is required. Experience working with multiple stakeholders is required. Experience with risk management and risk mitigation is required. Knowledge and/or experience of intellectual property rights management in a relevant field would be preferred. Principles and working knowledge of inter-institutional agreements and contracts would be preferred. Biomanufacturing and vaccine development expertise and experience would be an asset. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. High level of attention to detail and to multi-task and prioritize many tasks is required. Strong, demonstrated problem-solving, coordination, organization, and time-management skills are required. High proficiency using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Teams, and other applications such as Zoom are required. Exceptional verbal, written, and technological skills are required. A high degree of confidentiality and diplomacy is required. Ability to assess and manage confidential and sensitive information is required. - Demonstrated project management/coordination skills, including the ability to manage large projects with complex budgets involving multiple institutions and prioritizing tasks among many competing demands would be preferred. Strong financial management skills would be preferred.- Familiarity with web design and social media engagement is an asset. Familiarity with the UM institutional environment and familiarity with financial software packages (such as FAST, EPIC, and Concur) would be an asset. Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required. Sensitivity to the requirements of collaboration with Indigenous and/or marginalized groups in Canada or internationally is preferred.
