Our real estate development client is seeking a permanent Project Accountant to join the team.

Reporting to the Owner, you will be responsible for:

• Manage standard operating procedures for the accounting department and put processes and workflows in place following accounting best practices
• Daily accounting functions primarily reconciling and maintaining the general ledger and the various accounting modules (AR, AP, Payroll, Cash Management), preparation of compliance reporting for various government entities, assisting with monthly/ quarterly/ and annual reporting to the owners of the company
• Construction accounting duties will include T&M billing/collection, project billing assembly and trade payment processing
• Perform general accounting and administrative functions to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting
• Prepare certain statutory government filings and payments
• Assemble client billings packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensure timely payment
• Gather all vendor invoices, allocate to projects and ensure payment on time
• Maintain corporate and construction paid utilities, invoices, and income
• Audit & process company expense reports & credit card reconciliations
• Reconciliation of vendor statements
• Review job cost reports and maintain budgets
• Prepare monthly operating statements
• Prepare cheque runs, including forwarding cheques for signature
• Ensure that all required documentation, including insurance, bonding, workers compensation, statutory declarations, is in place

Prepare accurate project financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including:

• Project budget update reports
• Funding requirement reports
• Cash flow forecasts
• Distribution and waterfall projections
• Other various reporting requirements, as needed
• Process and maintain accounts receivable and aging report;

Maintain budgets and job costs, communicate with accountants and operation teams on variances;

• Prepare Y/E adjusting entries and accruals;
• Assist in maintaining accounts on the balance sheet;
• Perform bank reconciliations;

Successful Candidate:

• 2+ years project accounting experience
• Experience working within the real estate construction/development sector
• Organized and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
