Islamic Relief is a member of the Humanitarian Coalition.Department:The Programs Department oversees the strategic allocation and utilization of resources for humanitarian and development projects in over 30 countries, ensuring compliance as a registered charity. This involves aspects of administration, proposal development, project management, and remote and in-person monitoring and evaluation, to name a few. Program staff excel in proactive problem-solving and stakeholder management, capable of navigating diverse needs and ensuring effective communication.Job Purpose:Reporting to the International Programs Manager, this position will be responsible for a designated international programs portfolio. This involves aspects of administration, management, and monitoring and evaluation. The officer ensures all aspects of IR Canada compliance including project filing, project management, information sharing, and monitoring & evaluating.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Project Administration (50%)

  • Manage and maintain project database and project management software
  • Interdepartmental collaboration and communication
  • Handle inquiries from fundraising, donor care, and marketing departments
  • Write project summaries and descriptions for marketing purposes
  • Write and update country profiles on a yearly basis
  • Assist with special projects, systems, and processes within the department as requested
  • Other assignments based on the discretion of the International Programs Manager
  • Organize international travel as requested from other departments
Project Management (40%)
  • Review and develop proposals, reports, and other project documentation in coordination with partners and/or field offices
  • Oversight of effective implementation of programs and of compliance with CRA and donor requirements, including budget and financial requirements; partner agreements; and implementation and work plan
  • Ensure timely submission of accurate and quality narrative and financial reports in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Maintain a current understanding of humanitarian issues including Canadian government policies and programs related to the designated project portfolio
Monitoring and Evaluation (10%)
  • Responsible for visiting various project locations internationally to conduct M&E using results-based management tools. This generally occurs after one year in the position.
  • Write final M&E reports to be shared with the International Programs Manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in international development or related field, along with 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in program management
  • Strong familiarity and understanding of Results Based Management
  • Strong analytical understanding and demonstrated knowledge in key sectors of intervention (WASH, Food Security, Protection, Shelter, Food/NFI, Education, Livelihood)
  • Familiarity with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) processes
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English are required, including strong analytical and report-writing capability and strong attention to detail;
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work both in a self-directed manner and collaboratively with other staff and stakeholders;
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and database systems
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a wide range of cultural and political settings
  • Be able to work comfortably in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Proficient with Gmail, MS Office suite, Adobe Acrobat
  • Please note: this position requires mandatory travel to IR project sites, which can include conflict zones such as Iraq, South Sudan etc.
