Sport Yukon, the face and voice of sport in the Yukon, supports inclusion, access, and diversity through the development of sport and recreation throughout the Territory. We are the hub of a vibrant, healthy, engaged community of sport organizations that are continuously growing and improving. Supporting member organizations to operate sport and recreation throughout Yukon is at the heart of what we do. This position leads the provision of services to support and enhance the development of sport within member organizations, individuals, and families. This position will work collaboratively with Sport Yukon staff, member organizations, community partners and government agencies, as well as individuals and families to:
Work closely with the Events Manager to organize the Klondike Road Relay, including: recruitment, coordination, and training of volunteers; implementation and delivery of sponsorship agreements; administration of various race logistics (insurance, registration, etc.); and race day event management.
Administer and report on a variety of funding programs and initiatives that support Yukon athletes, coaches, and families by increasing access to participation in sport and recreation, including the Kids Recreation Fund.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations and sport groups in support of the Kids Recreation Fund - this includes purchase orders, registration agreements, and other KRF initiatives.
Provide support in the organization and delivery of Sport Yukon events, including Member Meetings, Hall of Fame Ceremonies, and more.
Maintain Sport Yukons communication platforms, including updating the website, social media, bi-weekly newsletter, and our Digital Display network.
Contribute to the Sport Yukon team by assisting with a variety of programming and related duties.
The incumbent will require:
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong computer literacy and knowledge of various online and digital systems, including Word, Excel, SurveyMonkey, Squarespace (can be trained), social media platforms, etc.
Ability and desire to communicate in a proactive manner to build and maintain relationships with member organizations, partner agencies, individuals and families with diverse experiences and backgrounds
Strong task management skills and a detail-oriented work process
Ability to multi-task / manage multiple projects concurrently
Interest in and passion for sport
Strong oral and written communication skills
Highly developed ability to lead using influence
Desire to work in a small, vibrant ever-changing organization
Strong work ethic and an energetic and enthusiastic approach to work.
These skills are normally gained through:
Education and/or experience in event or project management
Education and/or experience in not-for-profit administration, office management, etc.
Experience working in a customer service / client support role
Experience leading and delivering projects
Experience working collaboratively.
