The Canmore Museum is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and proactive Programs & Events Lead to support the delivery of our public programs, day camps, and events throughout the year. This ongoing, casual contract position plays a key role in helping the Museum deliver high-quality, engaging experiences for visitors of all ages.
This role is ideal for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and enjoys interacting with the public, supporting educational and cultural programmes, and contributing to a small, collaborative museum team. Hours vary month to month based on programme schedules and Museum needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Programs & Events Lead will be responsible for:
Delivering day camps held in February, spring, and summer
Mentor, develop skills and ensure a positive safe and inclusive environment for participants of all ages
Communicate professionally with parents/guardians, the public and Museum staff and volunteers.
Be featured on our social media channels with interpretive content
Supporting the preparation and delivery of programs and events, including:
Workshops, lectures, and talks
Family and children's programs
Historic downtown walking tours
Museum and exhibit tours
Exhibit opening receptions and special events
Prepare program spaces through event setup and takedown, including arranging furniture, materials, and supplies
Assisting with other programs and events-related tasks as needed
Supporting museum front desk coverage as needed
QUALITIFICATIONS
Experience working with the public, ideally in an education, recreation, event, museum, or cultural setting
Experience with program design and implementation is an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable and organized with a high attention to detail
The ability to work well in a team or individually
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Ability to proactively adapt to changing needs, schedules, and program formats
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
ProServe training is an asset
French fluency is an asset
Interest in local history, museums, or community programming is an asset
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 3 per week
