We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and creative Program Coordinator to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of Shoresh's Child and Family Programs; manage program logistics and communications; develop and implement nature-based Jewish educational content; supervise and support program staff; and contribute to Shoresh's community programs, events, and overall impact.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Management
Coordinating the logistics and administration of Shoresh Child and Family Programs, including identifying & scheduling key milestones, configuring and managing program registration, tracking program progress, and evaluating program outcomes;
Serving as the lead contact for Child and Family Programs, including overseeing logistical communications including welcome packages, follow-ups, and recap emails, and identifying and conducting outreach with potential program participants;
Developing staffing plans, overseeing the recruitment & hiring process with Human Resources, and training & supervising staff educators on Child and Family Programs;
Supervising Lead Educators in preparing, maintain, and distribute first aid kits for relevant programs;
Program Design
Developing seasonal program curriculum and daily program plans that weave together Jewish nature-connection with thematic lenses and Shoresh pedagogy;
Sourcing program content and educational resources both internally and externally from valid educational sources and adapting for age-suitability;
With Lead Educators, sourcing necessary supplies for upcoming programs, ensuring timely delivery of relevant supplies on program dates, and maintaining material organization and upkeep;
Program Facilitation
Facilitating Shoresh educational programs, including, but not limited to, Shoresh Outdoor School, Camp Shoresh, Community Festivals and Events, and Partner Programs;
Overseeing the implementation of daily program plans with educators, including meeting prior to the program for review and materials preparation and after the program for debrief and clean up;
Other duties
Participating in organization-wide events and programs
Schedule and Supervision
This is a full-time position; 35 hours per week. Some seasons are Monday-Friday (summer and winter), whereas other seasons are Sunday-Thursday (fall and spring). It will also require occasional evening work.
Some flexible/remote work is possible (1-2 days/week). You will be supervised by the Program and Site Manager. Start date is
January 12, 2025
. This is a one year contract, with potential for extension.
The Shoresh office is located at St. Clair Ave W and Dufferin.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a salaried position (average 35h/week), the annual salary is $47,320 - $51,000. Compensation also includes health care and dental coverage (after a 3 month probationary period), paid vacation, professional development opportunities, and paid time off for religious Jewish holidays.
Qualifications
You have experience in:
Google Suite including Sheets, Docs, and Forms;
Jewish education and/or familiarity with Jewish values, teachings, and practices;
Outdoor education and/or familiarity with the natural world and with education;
Childcare
Experience with Campbrain or other camp registration softwares considered an asset
You have the following personal qualities:
Personable, engaging educator, connects easily with young people and their caregivers;
Organized and logistically minded;
Timely and effective decision-making in dynamic situations;
Team worker, strong communicator, ability to give and receive constructive feedback;
Comfortable spending all day outdoors in all kinds of weather, able to adapt to deliver programming in all weather conditions, and to change the plan to match the weather.
Other Requirements
Has (or will obtain) a Vulnerable Sector Screening dated within the past 2 years (Shoresh will provide the agency code for this and reimburse the cost);
Has (or will obtain) current First Aid CPR-C certification (Shoresh will reimburse 50% of the cost);
Comfortable working remotely, in an in-person office environment, and outdoors in parks (program locations) across the GTA;
Available for evening and weekend work to deliver regularly scheduled programs and occasional community events;
Has a driver's license, access to a vehicle, and is able to travel to Shoresh program or event sites across Toronto and the GTA;
Able to lift and carry supplies as needed (up to ~30 lbs).
