Program Coordinator
Reports to:
Executive Director
Purpose:
To provide a variety of programming for individuals 55+, and to ensure that all programs have the necessary resources
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development
Identify programs that are consistent with GNALC's mission by regularly researching programs offered at other 55+ active living centres, conducting internet searches and through suggestions offered by members of the Program Committee and GNALC.
Identify the requirements of programs to ensure that GNALC has the resources to fulfill these requirements.
Chair the Program Committee.
Program Implementation
Interview, screen and contract with qualified instructors to facilitate programs.
Ensure fitness instructors are certified by the Manitoba Fitness Council to teach older adults and have the necessary insurance to teach fitness classes to older adults.
Identify, train and support program facilitators
Contract with workshop leaders and presenters.
Ensure programs have adequate space and the necessary resources.
Ensure rooms are set-up (chairs, tables, projector, etc.) for programs, are taken down at the end of the program and are left clean.
Evaluation
Ensure the annual membership survey includes opportunities for members to provide feedback on programs.
Ensure all programs are evaluated annually by seeking feedback from participants via an evaluation form.
Prepare an annual evaluation report for the Program Committee and Executive Director's review.
Marketing
Produce GNALC's bi-monthly newsletter, ensuring all programs are advertised with detailed information on dates and times, and that the newsletter is attractive, appealing, and reader-friendly.
Use the GNALC website and social media accounts to advertise programs.
Ensure programs are advertised in the community through public service announcements, posters, brochures, fliers, etc.
Participate on the Marketing Committee.
Develop, implement and evaluate new member recruitment strategies with the Marketing and Membership Committees.
Administration
Maintain the GNALC Website by inputting all programs relative to each newsletter
Maintain statistics relevant to programming, and submit monthly statistics to the Executive Director within 5 working days of the previous month.
Maintain system of room bookings for programs, events and meetings.
Ensure sign-up sheets and attendance sheets for programs are ready to go as needed.
Pursue and contract with advertisers for the newsletter.
Provide input for the annual budget re: program needs.
Be accountable for program expenses and revenue.
Maintain the centre's bulletin boards.
Working with Volunteers
Assign work responsibilities to volunteers
Work with the Volunteers Coordinator to ensure front desk volunteers are aware of any new or revised office procedures.
Provide supervision and support to volunteer program leaders, and Volunteers Coordinator to address any areas of concern.
Other
Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the centre in the absence of the Executive Director.
Maintain distribution lists for various fundraising initiatives.
Act as the 'go to/runner' for Hobnobs Cafe in the absence of the Coordinator of Volunteers.
Develop and maintain expertise related to programming and 55+ active living centres.
Attend staff meetings and chair/take minutes as assigned.
Provide information, referral and support to those 55+ as needed.
Ensure all equipment is put away, and rooms are clean and locked at the end of the day.
Carry out from time-to-time other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualities and Requirements:
Degree in Social Sciences, Diploma in Community Development or five years equivalent experience.
Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Strong multi-tasking abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a participatory team approach.
Experience working with older adults
Computer experience - Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher.
Ability to lift 50 lbs for a distance of 100 feet
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
