As Program and Community Outreach Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of key programs, including caregiver support, community education, friendly visiting/calling, and crisis intervention initiatives. You'll help ensure our programs run smoothly while also building strong connections with clients, volunteers, and community partners.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end operations of programs that support Seniors, Caregivers, persons with disabilities and community members. Additionally, the Program Coordinator provides direct support to the Manager of Senior Support Programs and the Executive Director in running the day-to-day operations of our key Service programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the end-to-end operations of the following community and senior support programs:
Community Education programs and events, including the Annual Seniors Fair, Friendly Calling/Friendling Visiting, Crisis Intervention, Caregiver Support.
Oversight of approved volunteers for the above programs, providing orientation and/or training when, scheduling, supervision and regular follow-up.
Create, promote and deliver special events and quality education and outreach programs for Seniors/Caregivers, often in partnership with other community support agencies. The includes development of program materials, booking facilities, registration, etc.
Build and maintain positive community partnerships/relationships with community stakeholders including other social service agencies, formal networks, associations. businesses, hospitals, government and community members. This includes attendance at meetings (both virtual and in person).
Regularly engage with clients and key stakeholders/partners to ensure programs are meeting individual and community needs. This may include wellness checks.
In concert with the Manager of Senior Support Programs and Volunteer Services, assess clients for service needs, including eligibility for subsidized program support or crisis services.
Monitor program service delivery and ensure timely resolution of any identified issues.
Develop and update program policies and procedures, ensuring staff, volunteers and clients are aware of all policies and procedures and any changes that take place
Maintain and update program evaluations, statistical records for each of the assigned programs and provide required reporting
Builds awareness and client base for Friendly Calling/Friendly Visiting, including volunteer training, promoting the program, clients/volunteer matching and regular client/volunteer follow-up.
Assist with agency fundraising campaigns and special events and promotion, including participation in community events.
Actively participate in professional and personal development to ensure knowledge and skills are updated and meeting the needs of our members and organization
Support other organizational and office duties as required
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary education in a Health/Social Science discipline or the equivalent combination of qualifications/education (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Social Service Work, Gerontology, etc.)
2-3 years of related experience in community services and program development and evaluation.
Direct experience working with seniors and/or vulnerable populations in the social services sector
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and balance multiple and competing tasks
Strong Communication and active listening skills to build trust and understand clients
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for assessment and appropriate referral and/or crisis intervention.
Experience building positive relationships with community partners
Experience working with volunteers and volunteer supported programs
Experience creating social media posts
Comfortable using Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, MS Teams and cloud-based programs such as One Drive
Must have access to a vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records/Vulnerable sector check
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with or understanding of the not-for-profit environment is an asset.
Knowledge of social services and resources in Dundas and the greater Hamilton area, as well as the Province of Ontario
Experience working with seniors or persons with disabilities.
Current First Aid & CPR certification
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role is will work both in office and within the community. Driving is required within the community to attend meetings or events, meet with clients, etc.. Regular physical activities include walking, sitting, standing and keyboarding. Occasional lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safe, organized and clean personal workspace both at the office and off-site when delivering programs.
Know and follow all emergency protocols at all locations, including location of First Aid Kits, emergency contacts, emergency exits, fire extinguishers and potential risks.
Ensure the safe and appropriate use of all equipment and facilities.
Be familiar with legislation, policies and procedures related to the organization and job requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
