Job Description


As Canada\xe2\x80\x99s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. CAMH\xe2\x80\x99s Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) houses a team of scientists who conduct collaborative research on communities, populations, health systems and global health. Our work also involves developing and evaluating prevention and intervention initiatives.

Position Description

IMHPR is seeking a casual Program Officer reporting to the PI, OTRU. This role will work closely with the PI on a number of confidential and sensitive projects. The role will manage and coordinate key initiatives pertaining to the research operations, including grants, Human resources, preparing annual reports and contributing to budget planning and management. The successful candidate will support a workplace which embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Assist the PI on large scale projects many of which will be confidential and sensitive in nature.
  • Liaise with departments such as Finance, IMG, Procurement, Human Resources and Research Services.
  • Liaise with the grants and awards office and facilitate knowledge translation and cross collaboration initiatives.
  • Assist with budget tracking for grant funded accounts on behalf of the PI.
  • Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance of CAMH and Research policies.
  • Monitor and provide in-depth review of documentation for compliance, completeness and correctness.
  • Prepare documentation and communication.
  • Provide support to the PI as needed for other initiatives.
This position is located at 33 Ursula Franklin.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline
  • 2+ years of work experience in a customer service role in a research related environment Experience in managing projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a grant based research environment
  • Business and/or financial experience (e.g. reading financial reports and preparing budgets)
  • Advanced-level knowledge of MS Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and oversee varied complex projects
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze, evaluate, and resolve problems
  • Strong communication and motivational skills, and a record of productive and cooperative work with teams and individuals
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Ability to handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced knowledge of research office administration and finance practices. High level of literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion and a genuine interest in supporting scientific research
  • Experience with working in an academic or healthcare environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
  • Capable of original thinking and able to initiate ideas to move projects forward
  • Excellent skills in the use of databases, spreadsheets, word-processing and other applications
