Position Overview The Department of Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Program Manager. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the multi-functional position of Program Manager will support several unique research projects, investigate potential future funding options to grow a cohesive program of work, facilitate rigorous stakeholder engagement and conduct integrated knowledge translation. There will be times when the Program Manager may be required to work outside the normal working hours, with modest local travel. At times, may be called upon to work with partners outside of Alberta. Position Description Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Create lively and engaging online and in person events
    • Cultivate and maintain an active community for network members
    • Works with key stakeholders through robust engagement tactics
    • Works closely with Libin Operations Team to leverage existing assets and resources
    • Provides leadership to the PI to ensure all event logistics will realize the key deliverables
  • Leadership & Management
    • Responsible for working with Principal investigator to determine positions that would support the strategic goals of the Research group
    • Manages the creation and updating of job profiles
    • Recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of Research staff, initially the statistician and research assistant positions
    • Performs and engages staff in annual performance reviews
    • Performs disciplinary actions up to and including terminations, as required
    • Ensures all Institute staff have a Hazard Assessments in place to reduce risk for their position
    • Recruit and onboard post-doctoral fellows
  • Research & Evaluation
    • Identify, design and implement initiatives to foster a cohesive research program
    • Design research impact and engagement assessment approaches
    • Data collection and analysis for assessing the impact, developing future grant applications, and contributing to publications
    • Access and clean administrative data to facilitate analysis
  • Project Planning & Knowledge Translation (KT)
    • Develops and manages in the development of the budget and monitors it to ensure activities are within budget
    • Manages with project accounting
    • Creates critical paths for each research project to carefully plan all key activities
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • 5-10 years' experience, where 3-5 years are specifically in the area of program manager stakeholder engagement
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Healthcare experience is an asset
  • Event planning skills and experience is an asset
  • International Association of Public Participation Certification is an asset
  • Facilitation certification is an asset
  • Experience in evaluation and assessing the impact of research and engagement is an asset
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Knowledge of social media tools and platforms is an asset
  • Grant writing experience is an asset
