Program Manager, CNIB Lake Joe

Full-Time Permanent, MacTier, ON (seasonally hybrid)

For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Program Manager to help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for 'kids of all ages' with sight loss, and their families!

Reporting to the General Manager, CNIB Lake Joe, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of CNIB Lake Joe's programs, providing leadership and direction to staff and volunteers, and delivering programs and services to guests.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Manage daily operation and program functions of CNIB Lake Joe, including the planning and implementation of all in-person programs (on- and off-site activities), and developing weekly program schedules for staff and volunteers to meet guest needs and the current industry and association standards.
  • Recruit and hire new seasonal employees and provide the required orientation and training; manage performance and development using supportive management techniques and recognize employee accomplishments.
  • Support the development or revision of relevant camp operational policies and procedures and ensure policies and standards are met.
  • Ensure adherence to current Health and Safety legislation and requirements and assist in the implementation of a risk management strategy.
  • Participate in a rotational schedule for daytime, overnight and weekend Manager on Duty responsibilities, including responding to emergencies.
  • Assist with program evaluation, including the maintenance of statistical information.
  • Provide supporting leadership to ensure successful program delivery for group bookings by internal departments, community partners, and external agencies.
  • Support marketing strategies and the promotion of CNIB Lake Joe via various virtual channels.
  • Foster a culture of volunteerism and philanthropy and assist in fundraising activities.
  • Oversee programs and operations to ensure alignment with CNIB's business strategy and strategic commitments.
Requirements

Who you are:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supportive management skills including programming principles and facilities administration.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and "best guest experience."
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation/requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, team building, and networking skills.
  • Results oriented with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to manage and initiate multiple projects at once.
  • Knowledge of database software considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with challenge courses an asset.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Minimum two experience in a leadership/managerial role
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of program development; camp, recreation, or community programs preferred.
  • Flexibility to work camp hours, including evenings and weekends on a rotational, on-call schedule during the camp season, hybrid during off-season.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in working in not-for-profit, working within the sight-loss community desired.
  • Previous experience within an Ontario Camps Association (OCA) accredited camp an asset.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
