Duties: As a member of BC Hydro’s EV team, this role is responsible in leading aspects BC Hydro’s EV
initiatives in support of BC Hydro’s Electrification Plan and the BC Governments’ CleanBC targets.

This role will be responsible for evolving BC Hydro’s EV network platform and related partnerships
and integrations. BC Hydro has nearly 40,000 EV network members that require exceptional
reliability and user experience of public EV network.

BC Hydro uses multiple tools for asset management, case management, call centre support and
reporting as part of the EV network platform. Customers use the BC Hydro EV app to activate
charging stations and manage their account. Customers also can use the BC Hydro EV web portal
to manage their account. BC Hydro also has roaming in place with other EV networks such as
FLO and ChargePoint. This role will have purview and accountability over the entire platform
ecosystem.

This role will be responsible for evolving the end-to-end EV network platform for customers, BC
Hydro EV Operations, BC Hydro facilities and fleet, employees, contractors and other partners.
Initial focus will be working with BC Hydro’s cloud service vendors to evolve and improve the
tools. The work includes, but is not limited to: project management, customer experience
evolution, product management, developing additional EV network roaming relationships,
research and development, strategies, business cases, promotion, implementation, ongoing
management, procurement, financial compliance, rates & regulatory support, special projects,
pilots, reporting, hardware integration, key liaison between EV program and BC Hydro’s EV
network related software vendors and suppliers, roaming partners, OEM’s and BC Hydro’s EV
Operations, Integrated Planning, Digital Communications, Finance, Technology, Powertech Labs
Subsidiary and related departments.

The Program Manager will be results-oriented, have an exceptional customer centric orientation,
and take a practical approach to effectively resolve problems. The position will also be


accountable for implementing projects, programs and continuous improvement efforts utilizing
best practices and evolving EV-related solutions.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of program development and
management of multiple projects, transitioning products and projects to operations, management
or procurement of vendors / contractors, driving continuous improvement, developing new
initiatives, leading and working in cross-functional teams, coaching team members and external
stakeholder relationship management.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide project management leadership and direction and leads cross-functional teams to
execute projects and programs for complex EV specific initiatives which require multiple
approaches, utilizing various delivery methods.
  • Monitor the product results to ensure performance targets are achieved and/or initiate alternate
strategies.
  • Engage with cross functional teams and stakeholders in the development and execution of
initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of EV industry trends, investigate, and analyze product and market trends and
issues to develop new or revised solutions to meet transportation electrification goals and financial
objectives.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to professional and/or technical resources involved in solution
development and implementation.
  • Run regular and ad hoc project update meetings and design workshops to ensure regular
communication amongst program stakeholders.
  • Run steering committee meetings and present to senior leaders as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Degree with a specialization in Technology, Engineering, Business, Project
Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6 - 10 years of experience with cloud service solutions, customer experience, digital/operational
product development, communications, project management, product management, market
research and analysis, financial analysis, and program management within a large, complex
organization.
  • Experience working with a variety of external partners (e.g. EV industry, EV hardware and
software suppliers, consultants, other utilities, vehicle OEM’s, strategic partners, etc.)
  • Well-developed planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and ability to influence others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrives in a team environment with cross functional team members, able to work with people
with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills for communication with a wide variety of internal
and external stakeholders as listed above.
  • Strong analytical skills including risk assessment to provide decision recommendations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of BC Hydro's business and the interdependencies of the various
departments and systems.
  • Familiarity with owning, driving, and charging an electric vehicle is desirable.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
