Position




Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator will take an active approach in the development and implementation of culturally appropriate programming for urban Indigenous people. The coordinator will have ample opportunities to incorporate land-based activities for young children, youth, adults, and seniors.

Responsibilities




Plan, prepare, and deliver culturally appropriate programs for Indigenous people (multi-generational); Bring in subject matter experts and traditional knowledge keepers into programming as needed; Coordinate outings, ceremonies, and celebrations for the program; Work in partnership with the Traditional Parenting Program to provide support to parents; Provide information, education, and referrals to other Wabano services, including (but not limited to) well child visits, immunization, dental check-ups, mental health supports, parenting/perinatal programs; Partner and support other sectors in Wabano for program planning, delivery, and evaluation; Lead and participate in events on some evenings and occasional weekends. Other administrative duties as provided by the department director.

Qualifications

Completion of post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree, Childcare, Early Years, Social Work, Education, or relevant field; Knowledge, sensitivity, and awareness of the history, culture, and unique needs of the urban Indigenous population; Excellent social marketing and community engagement skills; Ability to plan, prepare, and deliver workshops to groups of up to 30 people; Advanced communication skills to persuasively communicate complex messages through various outlets (social media, website, resource development, booth displays, etc.); Experience working with a multidisciplinary team; Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple ongoing projects; Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Ability to stand, bend, crouch, lift, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities.

Salary





$52,000-$55,000 per year + Benefits
