Your opportunity:

Working under general direction of the Director, Professional & International Programs, the Program Coordinator (Diversity and Inclusion) will work across all Professional and International Programs portfolios, including the Summer Abroad and Teaching in Higher Education (THE500H) programs, to help develop and implement initiatives and procedures that highlights the program\'s EDI-driven values. The incumbent will liaise with internal stakeholders, including the broader EDI team across the three campuses, student organizations, clubs and groups to implement outreach initiatives related to the Summer Abroad programs. The incumbent will also build on existing collaborations with external partners and display an understanding of existing policies and legislation.

The incumbent will brief the Director on emerging EDI related issues as they are identified as well as identify and implement opportunities for improvements across EDI programs, resources and procedures.
The incumbent will also be involved in program administration as well as coordinating outreach for the purpose of student recruitment. The incumbent will administer several Summer Abroad programs, including the Science Abroad.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual\'s background
  • Keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Advising students on financial aid/award matters by probing and providing a range of options and possible outcomes
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
  • Providing some care to prevent physical or emotional injury or harm
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Education or Business Administration (Master\'s degree preferred) or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of recent and related experience with academic program coordination in international education at a university setting, counselling students and overseeing the application and registration process including eligibility assessments. Within the 4 years of recent and related experience, at least one year of demonstrated experience in equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives is required.
  • Experience coordinating with overseas institutions, academic coordinators, on site program coordinators, and instructors with regards to international programs.
  • Experience researching and developing new programs that strengthen equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience managing difficult conversations and dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience processing applications and screening scholarship requests.
  • Experience interpreting and applying University of Toronto (Faculty of Arts and Science) policies and procedures
  • Experience producing promotional material and experience with social media
  • Demonstrated advanced computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Pro, Drupal, SharePoint On-line, ROSI, database management and website software
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to deal with a large volume of correspondence with students, overseas partners, and staff; demonstrate strong service orientation in dealing with a wide range of people; must have sound judgement, tact, problem-solving skills, and an ability to handle confidential information and maintain confidentiality
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Ability to deal with administrators in a manner which facilitates cooperation and consensus building; ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact
  • Demonstrate project and change management skills, and be able to manage several projects and deadlines concurrently; proven ability to work under pressure; superior organizational skills in planning, and project and task coordination
  • Strong self-motivation, with the demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team; ability to be innovative, entrepreneurship spirit and problem solver
  • Proven ability in student advising and coaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to optimization of work efficiency and rationalization of procedures
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Experience of living in a foreign country and facility in one or more foreign languages is an asset.

USW Pay Band 12 -- $71,842 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $91,875. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
