The Wachiay Friendship Centre is dedicated to supporting the well-being of urban Indigenous peoples and equity-denied community members. We deliver culturally safe programs and services that foster inclusion, learning, and opportunity.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Program Coordinator to manage our United Way Work Experience Opportunities Grant (WEOG) program. This initiative provides short-term, supported work placements for individuals on disability assistance who face barriers to employment. The goal is to help participants build skills, gain confidence, and improve their future job prospects.

The Program Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the program, including recruitment, onboarding, placement matching, and tracking participant outcomes. The role also involves weekly check-ins, accurate record-keeping, and preparing required reports for United Way.

This is an

independent contractor position

suited for someone who enjoys project coordination, has excellent communication and organizational skills, and can work independently to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the WEOG program from start to finish, ensuring all deliverables are met. Recruit and onboard participants for work placements. Liaise with staff, participants, and placement sites to ensure smooth operations. Maintain accurate records of hours, outcomes, and participant progress. Submit required reports and documentation to United Way. Track and manage the program budget appropriately. Identify and resolve issues to keep the program on schedule.
Qualifications

Experience in program coordination, case management, or administrative roles. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Proficiency with spreadsheets and digital reporting tools. Knowledge of or experience working with Indigenous communities or equity-denied groups is an asset.
Contract Details

Compensation:

$28/hour, up to 125 hours, total contract $3,500.

Term:

Flexible hours; all milestones must be completed within the 125 hours.
