Every member of our team - from the President, right on down to the newest hire - shares a passion for learning, teaching and growing, both as individuals and as a collective. While our focus remains on providing our students with transformative, accessible and flexible higher education pathways, we also nurture an inclusive, supportive and genuinely kind work environment for our employees in three provinces and remotely.

If you want to help transform the Canadian post-secondary education landscape and shine a light on academic excellence, please join us.

Who we need

We are launching a new two-year Project Management program. With a planned staff of 12, three annual intakes and a target of 2000 students, this is an exciting initiative that will rapidly scale. To support the successful build, launch, and ongoing delivery of this program, we are looking for a Program Advisor to join us in a new role.

Your primary purpose is to foster student success measured by timely program completion or continuing enrolment in university programs. You will oversee a calendar of activities that support program participation, including following up with students at-risk of departure, confirming registration in the upcoming term and calling students who have withdrawn and those on a leave of absence to encourage re-entry. Working as part of the Program Team, you will also be responsible for proactively linking students with a variety of services and support mechanisms, namely academic, financial services, IT support and tutoring.

If you want to take on a role where you can make a profound difference on the experience of students, and design better ways to serve them, we'd love to talk to you.

What's in it for you

Impact, influence, and career development. You will be the first advisor in this program with an opportunity to customize the resources and structure to fit the needs of your program and students. This is an opportunity to work predominantly with international students who will significantly benefit from your knowledge, direction, and empathy. This is a brand new program and partnership anticipated to be highly successful with an initial 100 students for the first term. You will have the independence to take new ideas forward and run with them. You will grow and scale with the program, and develop seniority and best practices. It's an opportunity to lead and build program services and grow your career in a supportive, academic environment, with mentorship, and career opportunities in Student Services, Admissions, and the Registrar's Office. It's the chance to enroll in our courses and programs for free after your first year.

What you will do:

  • Ensure student commitment and engagement. You will follow up with term registrations to ensure students are following their plan of study, and work with the Registrar's Office to confirm student registration issues are resolved within the established timelines. You will reach out to students based on indications they may be at risk of departure or poor coursework performance. You will assist with the planning and execution of graduation ceremonies.
  • Administer withdrawal and re-entry protocols. You will reach out to students on leaves of absence (LOAs) and who have withdrawn to offer pathways and services to support re-enrollment. You will process withdrawals and LOAs.
  • Report. You will prepare At-risk and grade reporting from faculty. You will assist with student retention and persistence reporting.
  • Connect students to support services. You will assist students in accessing academic, financial, IT, tutoring, housing and health and wellness services. You will follow up to ensure the appropriate level of support was provided and to redirect if necessary.
What you bring:
  • The education and experience. You have an undergraduate degree and 2+ years working in student services or customer service. You are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, which translates to a commitment to student success. You are collaborative and collegial, driven to accomplish team goals. You have high standards of ethics and integrity and you share our mission to change lives. Exposure to a higher learning setting is preferred, including understanding student support systems and how they work together.
  • The consultative skills. You ask intelligent questions, actively listen and approach problems analytically and creatively. You are focused on finding solutions that are action-oriented and leverage and link to existing supports and services.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have flexible and effective communication skills. You can build trusting relationships with students, staff and faculty. You have a deep appreciation for diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • The technical skills. You are highly proficient in MS Office and you can quickly learn how to use our student information systems. You are detail-oriented and keep meticulous records.
  • The flexibility. You are able to work at our Brampton campus three days a week, either 9-5 or 10-6, including one Saturday a month. You are open to working extended hours during peak periods for student registration and reporting.
