Working closely with the clinical managers and reporting to the Manager, Clinical Practice, the Professional Practice Leader (PPL) is a leadership position with the mandate of promoting the advancement of the profession through innovation and discovery in practice and education. The PPL is responsible to support the activities of patient-focused care within the profession and ensure practice meets standards of care and the needs of the patient. He/she is also responsible for integrating the profession across the clinical programs at Osler, and establishing dynamic relationships with external partners. The PPL promotes a culture of professional enquiry and reflective practice by providing profession specific leadership and mentoring in an evidence-based continuous learning and research based practice environment. The PPL is an integral member of the Speech Language Pathologist team and professional advisory committee.


Accountabilities:

Ensure, monitor and enhance professional governance and the quality of professional practice delivered by the members of the discipline Lead profession-specific practice improvements and advancement of the profession Coach, mentor and guide practice development for professional staff Enhance interdisciplinary processes across the organization for the purpose of improving patient outcomes Act as a resource/ consultant for profession related issues, both internal and external

Qualifications

Master's degree in speech-language pathology Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario Minimum of five years clinical experience in a health care setting Strong collaborative and consultative leadership style Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrated commitment to practice advancement Strong organizational and time-management skills Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration

Hours: Currently days, Monday to Friday (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
