Professional Practice Leader – Social Work & Social Services Temporary Part Time (up to 12 months) $41-75 - $ 52.71 Reference#:22-352A The Social Work Professional Practice Leader (PPL) is responsible for the leadership of professional practice in the Social Work discipline. The PPL is accountable for the development, implementation and maintenance of professional practice standards within a program-based structure. The PPL acts as a consultant to frontline professionals and management with respect to professional practice issues in order to promote client and recovery-focused care within an inter-professional team environment. The PPL is responsible for leadership in professional development, quality improvement and research activities. The PPL liaises with education institutions, regulatory bodies, and professional associations including The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the Ontario Association of Social Workers, the Canadian Association of Social Workers, and other appropriate groups to ensure appropriate structures are in place to support excellence in professional practice. The PPL is a mentor and role model demonstrating the values and mission of Providence Care. Role Responsibilities

  • The PPL is accountable for ensuring the establishment, implementation and evaluation of standards of practice in
alignment with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Develops, implements, interprets, maintains, monitors and evaluates profession-specific, evidence-based, practice
standards. These standards must reflect current professional standards, legislation and Code of Ethics.
  • Coaches, mentors and participates with colleagues in relation to profession-specific standards of practice.
  • Assists in the implementation of changes in professional standards of practice within programs.
  • Establishes and communicates profession-specific standards of practice in collaboration with the program leadership
and others as appropriate.
  • Identifies and communicates to appropriate leadership, the profession, and Interprofessional Practice Forum when
standards of practice are not being met or will not be met by Providence Care, MHS.
  • Ensures processes are in place to integrate current evidence into profession-specific practice to improve patient
care.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with profession-specific academic institutions, keeping informed of
developments within the profession and identifies resources to further professional practice and to positively
influence professional practice and education within the external community. Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current provincial registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Minimum three years of experience in providing Social Work service in a hospital and/or community setting with
the relevant population, preferred.
  • Experience with professional standards of practice and with applicable legislation including but not limited to the
Regulated Health Professions Act, Social Work and Social Service Work Act, Mental Health Act, Public Hospital Act,
Homes for Special Care Act, Health and Safety Legislation.
