Job Description

McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, a family-owned business serving Calgary for over 120 years, is seeking a dedicated Administration Professional to join our compassionate and dynamic team. This role is vital in supporting our staff and providing exceptional care for the families we are privileged to serve.



This full-time position is based at various McInnis & Holloway locations in Calgary. The schedule is5-days / 37.5 hours per week with every second weekend off. Shifts are 8:30 am-4:30 pm, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, or 9:30 am-5:30 pm, depending on assigned location.

5-Star customer service mindset Empathy, compassion, and patience Comfort working around, and occasionally in contact with, decedents Strong administrative and customer service skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Fast and accurate keyboarding skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Ability to multitask and pivot between priorities with ease High attention to detail, including strong proofreading skills Sensitivity and respect for diverse cultural practices Ability to work independently and collaboratively Willingness to travel across Calgary to various McInnis & Holloway locations Clear and recent background check (Security Clearance) Flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends, and to work past scheduled hours as required

What You'll Do



Serve as one of the first points of contact for families at an important time Receive "First Call" information and assist in arranging the details of different cultures' death processes Ensure accuracy and proper filing of all required legal documents (Form 4s, Statements of Death, Death Certificates, Burial Permits, Registrations, etc.) Assist with identifications, visitations, handling of personal effects, as well as any other requests from families Coordinate with hospitals and the Medical Examiner's Office to confirm transfers of decedents into the care of McInnis & Holloway Prepare obituaries and cost estimates for newspaper submissions, and distribute obituaries to newspapers Create and maintain detailed service and cost files, including planner notes, case notes, and financial contracts Answer telephone and in-person inquiries with professionalism and care Receive and distribute internal and external mail and shipments, and process outgoing mail and shipments Complete general office duties such as ordering supplies, filing, copying, booking meeting rooms, payment processing, etc.
