The Position We are currently looking for a Production Managerto join our Operations Team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible to lead 4 - 5 Production Supervisors overseeing a workforce of approximately 100 unionized staff. The plant currently operates 5/24 and, while the core hours of this position are Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday, 8:00 am \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 pm, flexibility is required with an ability to work overtime when needed. The Production Manager is responsible to achieve Production KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and drive continuous operational improvement in the department. The successful candidate will continually analyze current processes, systems and equipment to ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently with a confident ability to highlight areas for improvement. Key Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Ensure data on key performance indicators are captured and reported; identify gaps between production targets and actual results \xc2\xb7 Review daily production schedules; monitor production levels and address issues that cause off schedule conditions; strategically plan materials, equipment and labour \xc2\xb7 Proactively and effectively resolve issues in a timely manner; using sound judgement escalate issues as necessary to mitigate risk and contain costs \xc2\xb7 Work as a team to monitor process performance to identify ongoing areas for improvement and coordinate corrective actions as necessary \xc2\xb7 Analyze problems related to product/process systems to determine root cause and implement improvement programs to eliminate problems \xc2\xb7 Investigate actions to overcome quality, processing, and safety issues with the goal to reduce waste and increase efficiencies \xc2\xb7 Adhere to Moore Packaging\xe2\x80\x99s safety and personal protective equipment requirements; promote safety in the workplace and ensure compliance to all heath and safety standards \xc2\xb7 Report unsafe or hazardous situations or work practices in a timely manner \xc2\xb7 Evaluate performance of production supervisors, coach and mentor ongoing \xc2\xb7 Maintain policies, procedures, and job descriptions for production department \xc2\xb7 Participate in efforts related to recruitment, selection, orientation and training of employees to maintain an adequate, qualified workforce \xc2\xb7 Manage production staff performance through counselling, regular appraisals and feedback. Apply corrective disciplinary actions when appropriate \xc2\xb7 Other duties as required Competencies: \xc2\xb7 Ability to demonstrate professionalism and maintain composure while working under pressure and in a constantly changing environment \xc2\xb7 Ability to coordinate a high level of activity and manage projects to completion in a timely, cost effective manner \xc2\xb7 Ability to motivate a team to achieve goals and objectives related to health and safety, quality, service and productivity \xc2\xb7 Demonstrate a positive attitude and act as coach and mentor to the team \xc2\xb7 Be a trusted leader to the team providing fair and consistent resolution to conflict or problems Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field or equivalent experience \xc2\xb7 Minimum 5 years management/supervisory experience in an industrial, unionized environment, preferably in the corrugated/packaging/automotive industry or engineering \xc2\xb7 Minimum 2 years managerial experience in production line scheduling in an order-based manufacturing environment \xc2\xb7 Strong working knowledge of current ESA, OHSA, WHMIS, Human Rights and other applicable standards/legislation \xc2\xb7 Health and Safety, CPR and First Aid certified \xc2\xb7 Excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) \xc2\xb7 Strong critical thinking and organizational skills \xc2\xb7 Ability to identify and solve inefficiencies in processes \xc2\xb7 Effective time management skills \xc2\xb7 Excellent verbal and written communication skills Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Benefits:
