Position Summary Reporting to the Production Supervisor/Superintendent, the Production Lead Hand is responsible for organizing and delegating shop floor activities on a daily basis. Principal Responsibilities and Duties \xc2\xb7 Responsible for ensuring proper health & safety procedures are followed \xc2\xb7 Provide instruction and training to production workers on how to properly operate the various shop machines in accordance with Salit SOP\xe2\x80\x99s \xc2\xb7 Coordinate the production and shipping priorities for their shift \xc2\xb7 Operates machinery, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure machine guards are in place and material is handled in a safe manner. Must wear appropriate safety equipment as specified. \xc2\xb7 Operation of Overhead Cranes (Training certification required prior to operating) \xc2\xb7 Use of a measuring tape to check material lengths \xc2\xb7 Follow work instructions, procedures and adhere to Company policies and rules \xc2\xb7 Report any unsafe acts or conditions of which you are aware \xc2\xb7 Maintaining regular attendance, arriving for scheduled shift on-time \xc2\xb7 Maintaining a clean and organized work area \xc2\xb7 Adhere to the requirements of section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act Working Conditions \xc2\xb7 Work is performed in a non-climate controlled environment. Temperatures will fluctuate in accordance with the weather and the season. Employees are to dress appropriately for the weather conditions. \xc2\xb7 Continuous walking, standing \xc2\xb7 Occasional heavy lifting \xe2\x80\x93 Employees are to use two man lift techniques or other lifting devices for loads that exceed their ability to lift safely (eg. Overhead Crane) \xc2\xb7 Working in the yards and shops with the steel is dirty, wear suitable clothing.
