About Harvest Systems


Harvest Systems' technology harvests and recycles waste heat to reduce operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions in a cost-effective and scalable way. Currently, the company is focused on the $4.6 billion restaurant industry, where the platform acts as a drop-in replacement for traditional water heaters. Using a novel heat reclaimer, waste heat is captured directly from commercial cooking appliances and stored in a hot water tank without affecting safety and performance and resulting in an average 2-year payback. Harvest Systems is a fast-moving startup focused on disrupting the restaurant industry and is actively looking to expand its team with driven team members.

Job Overview


The McMaster Internship position will assist the Harvest team with product development, production, and installation lifecycle of a novel heat reclaiming platform designed for the food service industry. The position will support the smooth and efficient operation of the fabrication facility and restaurant installation programs to ensure a high level of efficiency, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery. The role requires excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to clearly communicate with suppliers, fabrication partners, and customers. This includes optimizing production and tasks related to maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The successful candidate will ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and policies. The internship position will work in close collaboration with the other members of the team to ensure a consistently high level of quality and productivity. This position will report to the product development lead.

What You'll Do:



Design and build custom test equipment to perform quality control validation Aid in the hands-on work required for the assembly and installation of production units Create and Update CAD assemblies and drawings as needed Manage project documentation and contribute to weekly update meetings regarding progress

What you Need to Succeed: Skills Required



Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering related field Experience in a manufacturing environment Proven knowledge of production and CNC machinery and equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Solid understanding of operational processes and systems Able to read and interpret technical documents and schematics (including understanding of ASME Y14.5) Experience with CAD software (specific experience with SOLIDWORKS is a strength) Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast moving and agile start-up environment Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite Experience in commercial construction operations is a strength
Job Type: Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $20.00-$22.99 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
