About the team

This role is within the Data Driven Underwriting (DDUW) Solutions Americas team under Swiss re L&H Solutions division. You will be joining the DDUW product team who is on a mission to create a best-in-class solution in underwriting for Life Insurance carriers to address the current industry pain points with disparate data sources in the US market. The team has diverse skillsets of experts from underwriting, and technology and the team work collaboratively with cross functional delivery teams across the globe.

About the role

This position will directly report to the Head of data driven UW Americas who is also the Product Owner. We are seeking a highly motivated, Product S/W Engineer to join the DDUW Americas team. You will have a key role in oversight and design of product implementations as well as supporting the regional head in market readiness from a technical standpoint. You will work closely with the product owner and cross functional teams with a solid focus on:

  • Helping in implementing solutions on a secure, cloud-native apps that amaze customers by their simplicity of integration.
  • Developing API-centric apps and knowledge of the digital ecosystem you can help integrate your solution with ease with external services.
Your main responsibilities are:
  • You will oversee and be accountable for the delivery quality of the teams' commitments. Specifically, this involves taking care of and having the oversight of the development, design, UI/UX, and other processes that makes the product work.
  • You will become the subject matter expertise for the feature functions and how they impact the business.
  • You will be collaborating with cross functional teams to discuss Product Management, Development, Architecture and Operations on defining feature roadmaps and priorities.
  • You will be the liaison between Production Support and scrum team
  • You will commit to continuous learning of development processes, technologies, and practices
  • You will be hands on with the software and work through technical challenges with developers
  • Support the continuing development of the DDUW product
About You

  • You have BS/MS in Computer Science / Engineering/ IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on development as a professional full stack developer. Minimum 1 year of experience in managing a team of developers.
  • Good experience in agile software engineering
  • Full stack developer with a deep understanding of modern, cloud native architectures and software patterns and experienced on MS Azure's cloud offering
  • Atleast 3+ year of managing and working on a SaaS product.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following languages / runtimes: Java, SQL, and Python.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with cloud deployments and API services set up
  • Familiarity with front end development tools and languages. Eg: xml, html, jsons
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Scrum and Agile based environment
  • Experience with quality development practices, including: unit tests, build systems, peer reviews and automated functional tests
  • Experience with SaaS or Enterprise Software development
  • Deep understanding of Data architectures and Frameworks
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Self-directed learner, who prefers a hands-on approach to acquiring skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal including delivering presentations and providing demonstrations to clients.
  • Familiarity with data science and machine learning models is an advantage.
  • This role has potential to grow with the product team and its evolution.
  • Flexibility to travel when needed for industry events and client workshops.
