Product Owner, Business Architecture & Transformation - Commercial Banking

Purpose

The Product Owner, Business Transformation, will be responsible for hands-on leadership of the Customer Relationship Management, Credit Origination, and Loan Fulfillment technology product backlog that will help transform the Commercial Bank in Canada.

In this role you will work with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, define, implement, and support key product functionality that improves user experience and makes business banking simpler for our customers.

As the successful candidate you will lead and provide support on technology initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget to support the business transformation strategy.

Accountabilities:

Execute CRM technology roadmap for products that span across front-, mid- and back-office functions. Ensure successful execution by:

  • Discovery, conceptualization, ideation, and implementation of end-to-end user experiences
  • Ensuring user journeys, user flows, and product specifications are communicated to project team while utilizing agile project and program methodology
  • Hands-on leadership through management and configuration of the loan life cycle workflows and CRM applications implemented on the Salesforce.com platform
  • Effective prioritization of project deliverables and ensuring features delivered adhere to defined product specifications, project scope, and schedules
Design, develop, and maintain a technical change management framework to ensure all environments are consistent and product enhancements are tailored to the bank's processes

Demonstrate leadership through a consistent sense of urgency, detail focus, effective execution, and support of team success

Perform bulk imports of data and perform batch reassignment of accounts and opportunities based on organizational changes

Develop and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and processes to continuously improve data quality, process integrity and productivity

Champion a customer focused and user-satisfaction oriented culture through:
  • Proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving end user problems in a manner that exemplifies the bank's high standards of customer service
  • Managing the bank's internal user community, planning the product enhancement roadmap and executing against the roadmap
  • Performing intermittent application testing of new nCino releases and internal organizational changes
Support the communication strategy and change management effort to communicate changes in current workflow processes, disciplines and systems that support the ongoing development

Support in strategic roadmap planning through tracking and foresight of the vendor roadmap

Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment

Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience / Other Information:

Education:
  • Post-secondary education
  • Product Owner Certification desirable
  • Salesforce Administrator Experience or Certification desirable
Skills/Work Experience:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that involve collaborating with internal and external contacts regarding complex policies, procedures, or programs.
  • Ability to use independent judgment, investigation, concept development, information interpretation, and collaboration with other departments.
  • Strong organizational skills to co-ordinate and prioritize a number of concurrent projects
  • Experience with Scotiabank Commercial Banking internal systems and processes, such as credit applications, adjudication, and/or fulfillment is an asset.
  • Strong project management experience including project planning and tracking
  • Prior experience working in an enterprise IT role or technical related role, and/or intermediate coding skill are an asset.
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of workflow applications, including Salesforce.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and using data-related applications.
  • Thorough understanding of internal/external/Audit/Compliance procedures is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to engage stakeholders.
  • Thorough knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and PowerPoint presentation applications.
  • A high degree of flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks.
  • Work in a standard office-based environment and/or remotely; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
  • Ability to travel domestically as required - ability to travel to Toronto as required
