We are a talented team of product managers, product designers, engineers, and digital marketers building Canada\xe2\x80\x99s leading financial product comparison platform, Ratehub.ca (think Expedia, but for financial products). We compare mortgage rates, credit card rewards, deposit returns and insurance quotes.

We are looking for a Product Designer to join our growing team in downtown Toronto to lead one of our financial product verticals. You will own the whole product life cycle working closely with a product manager, business unit managers and developers. This role will report to our Design Team Lead. This is a great opportunity for someone who has developed the maturity and skills, in both UI and UX, required to anticipate business needs, as well as provide the dedicated focus on the end-user experience backed by defined data, research, and usability.

You, the candidate, will act as an integral part of our product team where you will have the opportunity to build the best fintech product experience for millions of Canadians. You will be an expert problem solver by using design thinking to define problems, conduct research to find reasonable solutions, build and test prototypes, and execute well-designed products.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in consumer-facing applications applying user-centered design processes across web, mobile, and desktop applications
  • A UI & UX portfolio that demonstrates strong problem solving and design skills
  • You are able to think at a high level about product strategy and vision
  • You can collect qualitative & quantitative data, identify unmet user needs and be able to provide recommendations for UX improvements
  • You have a good knowledge and understanding of user research, including: usability testing, user interviews, card sorting, etc.
  • You are capable of taking research insights during the exploration and discovery phase and in turn, define, design and execute into a well-designed product
  • You have an excellent sense of design and a great knowledge of design principles, typography, grids, colors, and imagery. Bonus points if you are into interaction and motion design (UI)
  • Experience working with or creating comprehensive design system (UI)
  • You are familiar with front-end development (HTML, CSS, and Javascript) and be able to communicate effectively with engineers
  • You are familiar with agile and lean UX processes
  • You have a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree (B.A., B.Sc., B.Des., B.Eng.) or other relevant education

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You will collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand business and user needs
  • You will spend half of your time performing qualitative user research and the other half executing on designs and working alongside the engineering team
  • You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle and continuously iterate to improve user experience through ideation and research
  • You will facilitate various kinds of design workshops, including: persona development and user journeys for different product verticals
  • You will contribute to increasing conversion rates and driving user engagement to grow the business
