The Faculty\'s Divisional IT team, Information and Instructional Technology (IIT), is a crucial source of support for the faculty\'s teaching, learning, research, and administrative operations. Our core functions include Infrastructure Server/Networking, Client Services and Teaching Technology Support, Product & Delivery Services, and Applications & Development. We provide responsive, client-focused technology and project delivery, day-to-day assistance, ongoing maintenance, and computing lab management with professional IT stewardship.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Product and Delivery Services, the Product Delivery Lead is responsible for assessing the Faculty of Arts and Science\'s (FAS) needs and using prevailing methodologies to define, design, implement, test, support and analyze technology systems and ensure functional teams stay unified in planning, project execution and support sustainability, with a quality, compliance and risk reduction mindset. The incumbent is a critical link within IIT and between the business, vendors (where applicable), the University and technical SME\'s.

The Product Delivery Lead is a seasoned Business Systems Analyst and/or Product Owner who has been solely responsible for completing Business System Analyst and/or Product Owner duties on over 5 large IT initiatives. They take a consultative approach in working with technical staff to build and develop highly complex IT technology solutions and cross functional applications based on business requirements. The incumbent leads and facilitates workshops to establish and maintain business requirements, ensuring the elicitation of clear, concise, non-conflicting functional and non-functional requirements from SMEs who may or may not understand how technology can be used to positively transform the business process and improve the user experience. The incumbent will become familiar with the configurability and administration of vendor platforms, providing guidance on how best to leverage the capabilities of these types of platforms and provide specialized hands-on technical support when required.

The incumbent is responsible for capturing consolidating and sustaining final business requirements, working with other cross-functional teams and driving project initiatives through to implementation and support. The Product Delivery Lead has hands-on project co-ordination experience leading initiatives in collaboration with technical focals. The incumbent also leads the development of project requirements, develops project artifacts, unifies technology resources, drives system design, testing, training and implementation. The role forms and provides solid support continuity and leads continuous process improvement initiatives to improve results, manage releases, measures success, maps and executes the product lifecycle with a service/product owner mindset. They are responsible for providing status updates to project sponsors and stakeholders as well as fostering collaborative relationships with clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating new technologies or new and modified businesses processes to elicit and document business and technical requirements
  • Analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing technical solutions for systems improvements
  • Analyzing the security and integrity of highly complex system problems and/or implications of any new or changed procedure or technology
  • Reconciling business requirements with information architecture needs for highly complex system integration
  • Assists with the configuring and administrating of vendor platforms to meet business and functional requirements
  • Providing specialized hands-on technical support for new product development
  • Planning the implementation of new business system processes
  • Ensuring that product testing and quality standards are adhered to
  • Checking that user documentation and training plans are in place for new applications
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Stewarding all project activities and providing timely status reports to all identified stakeholders
  • Creating all relevant project artifacts including, issues log, project intake, project briefs, project charters, change management plans and training
  • Determining project team members and workflow
  • Building and fostering strong relationships with various stakeholder groups at the Faculty
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Information Science, Computer Science, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Technical certification related to business analysis, project management, and process improvement (e.g., PMI, CBAP, CCBA, ITIL) is considered an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent and related Business Systems Analyst or Product Owner experience where they were solely responsible for eliciting and documenting product requirements and successfully delivering products in a diverse, multi-client and complex operational environment, including two (2) years of leadership experience.
  • Experience in consulting and implementing new or updated systems within a large, highly complex and highly technical organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing highly complex problems and producing concrete and actionable solutions.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude in implementing, administrating and configuring vendor platforms such as Service Now, Salesforce and forms and workflow platforms.
  • Experience in software development methodologies, in the following: web-based application development technologies and processes; data modeling and business process modeling; user interface design and usability testing.
  • Experience with usability testing, interactive prototypes, and general design principles.
  • Excellent project management skills and consulting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to facilitate meetings, workshops and training.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent requirements gathering and documentation techniques (contextual inquiries, surveys, use cases, scenarios, user stories, etc.).
  • Good understanding of standard development environments (builds, releases, databases, etc.).
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas using diagrams, models and prototypes.
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Experience with Salesforce vendor platform is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with a forms and workflow vendor platform is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with ServiceNow vendor platform is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with MS Office 365 and SharePoint deployment is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience working in an Agile development project 9Scrum) and SOA methodology is considered an asset.
  • Experience with web application languages (e.g. .Net, PHP, AJAX, XML, HTML, CSS & XHTML, Java, Python and Visual Basic, PERL, VBScript, JavaScript, Unix ShellScripts, and Windows PowerShell), web server technologies (e.g. Apache, WebLogic) and database applications (e.g. Oracle, MSSQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cognos, and Essbase) would be an asset.
