Job Description

As the Product Coordinator, Insurance, you are a great communicator, networker, researcher, creative thinker and can use data to tell a story building a case for new insurance products and product enhancements. You bring a passion for the Agriculture industry. You are a key contributor for ensuring that AFSC's products remain up to date and relevant to our clients.

What will your growth opportunities look like in this role?

Work with the agriculture Industry Groups, learning their business and bringing that perspective into daily program operations and program improvements.

Interact with Alberta producers gaining perspective into their needs with respect to managing risks to their operation.

Take advantage of learning more about AFSC and the products we deliver in insurance, lending, and risk management.

Gain knowledge of product analysis and design.

Further skills in research and product development.

What will you be responsible for?

Plan, facilitate and report on meetings with farm clients about AFSC products and other market research identifying trends and industry needs for business risk management.

Support and facilitate the development, monitoring, and analysis of stakeholder surveys for trends on products and their delivery.

Execute market research to identify industry trends and emerging issues in the agriculture sector that may impact the products and their delivery.

Review insurance products and workflow as part of product lifecycle maintenance.

Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with industry and external stakeholders/partners, working with the Innovation Team to look for short, medium and long-term product improvements. External Parties include other Provincial insurance delivery agents, Industry Groups, academia, working groups and committees, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Economic Development (AFRED) and others.

Establish and maintain strong working relationships with branch staff, particularly Team Leaders, to anticipate the issues and needs of clients and staff.

Clearly communicate AFSC policies regarding products to team members and client audiences.

Formulate and design products and product enhancements taking them from the idea stage through to implementation.

Make recommendations to management for improvements based on corporate priorities and market research.

Support and facilitate product changes and enhancements, overseeing the required approvals from management and stakeholders.

Ensure product compliance with guiding principles set in funding agreements and Federal guidelines.

Define project objectives, prioritize timelines, define resource requirements, and organize any required teams for completion.

Provide support to the preparedness team as subject matter experts as required.

Ensure products maintain compliance with the applicable judicial and Federal Provincial Territorial agreements.

Ensure products observe AFSC's level of quality standards and report on the performance of the products to management.

Collaborate with various teams across the organization to ensure product objectives are met

Provide input into forecasting and analysis/reporting of forecasting results.

Write policies, procedures, and reports relating to the role and products.

Support and respond to ministerial requests on AFSC products.

Support the resolution of client escalated issues on AFSC products.

Represent AFSC as an expert witness at formal appeal hearings and any other legal proceedings.

Research project skills

The ability to gain exceptional product knowledge: in depth technical knowledge of AFSC products, policies and processes that are relevant to the position

Broad knowledge of the agricultural business and its economic drivers

Knowledge and understanding of the legislation under which products are developed and delivered, for example the AFSC act, regulation, the Farm Income Protection Act and the Canadian Agricultural Partnership Agreement.

Broad knowledge of agriculture in Alberta

Provide support and maintenance on relevant SharePoint sites for product documents

Qualifications:

University Degree, College or Technical School diploma in related field

8 years of total combined education and experience
