What we offer

Under the direction of the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Specialist provides support to our procurement process including tendering, contract management, cost analysis, and purchasing services in adherence with generally accepted home building principles and Mattamy standards. This involves performing various independent tasks, as well as assisting the Procurement Manager, and working to provide The Best Homeowner Experience.

What you\'ll do

  • Adhere to division-wide procurement requirements related to information required for entry into BuildPro and JD Edwards (\xe2\x80\x9cJDE\xe2\x80\x9d) systems, and act as a key gatekeeper to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to such.
  • Review all processes and information required to issue RFQ and coordinate with different departments i.e. Architecture, Sales & Marketing and Design Studio to ensure efficient issuance of tender.
  • In conjunction with the Procurement Manager perform research and analysis on potential new products, trades partners and/or suppliers, working in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Coordination of tender process including documentation, pricing, and follow requests for incomplete submissions.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager, as required, by updating and maintaining analytics tool with quotations, price changes due to Architectural record of change, grading updates and market changes.
  • Support the Procurement Manager with the Change Order process by soliciting updated pricing, manage applicable Purchase Orders in JDE; support the efficient administration of late changes as required.
  • Draft contract and addendums as required.
  • Assist in resolving concerns, providing clarity and assistance to trades and construction sites related to upgrades, options sold, and scopes of work.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with suppliers, construction staff, and supervisors.
  • Provide demand forecasting to suppliers when and where required.
  • Ensure suppliers have the most current information including scopes, architectural drawings, and all other required documents.
  • Where required, assist Estimators/Procurement Managers with workflow and reporting.
What you bring
  • University degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Materials preferred).
  • One to three years or more of progressive experience in a related role.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude required.
  • Self-motivated, prioritizes tasks, and works independently with minimum supervision.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to set-up analysis or budget templates and prepare reports.
  • Understanding of the processes of budgeting, tendering, and construction.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
Bonus points
  • Previous experience in software such as JD Edwards, Bluebeam/AutoCAD
  • Experience working in the construction industry including experience gained through co-operative program placements
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code (Part 9)
