Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Intermediate Procurement Specialist.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 Education: Post-Secondary Degree in an Engineering, Business or related subject would be an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Experience: 3+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in the shipbuilding industry in a supply chain or engineering function Procurement/Supply Chain accreditation SCMP, MCIPS or ISM would be an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Previous exposure to market analytics and insights

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

\xc2\xb7 Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks

\xc2\xb7 Strong analytical skills

\xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

\xc2\xb7 High attention to detail

\xc2\xb7 Fluency in Microsoft Office

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Develop and improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance.

\xc2\xb7 Issue Purchase Orders for material

\xc2\xb7 Provide advice on contractual claims.

\xc2\xb7 Expedite Materials

\xc2\xb7 Execution of negotiated contract through Irving Shipbuilding\xe2\x80\x99s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) & MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems.

\xc2\xb7 Develop and implement category sourcing strategies.

\xc2\xb7 Analyze market conditions (ex: pricing, availability, lead-time, and capacity)

\xc2\xb7 Support new product introduction activities.

\xc2\xb7 Apply the principles of continuous improvement to the design and development of supply chain processes.

\xc2\xb7 Undertake cost analysis for direct material and services.
