The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing purchasing of raw materials and supplies procured by the organization and maintaining positive relationships with vendors. They will aim to exceed performance targets, and follow all necessary protocols and guidelines. They will negotiate pricing and contracts on behalf of the company. This is a hardworking, hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment emphasizing a team-oriented and collaborative style. It will be key for the candidate to embrace change and see past obstacles with a focus on solutions in the context of a company undergoing rapid growth and ongoing functional integration. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Control the purchasing of raw materials for the company so all departments have the necessary materials.
Maintain vendor contracts up-to-date and have a thorough understanding of the terms and conditions.
Partner with the management to search for, evaluate, and select new vendors.
Provide leadership and support to management in the negotiation of vendor contracts and service agreements
Take initiative to improve vendor qualification and evaluation processes in collaboration with other department leaders.
Establish and maintain metrics for internal performance.
Metrics may include but are not limited to buyer activity, financial performance vs budget, out-of-stock incidents, and inventory turns.
Maintain positive work relationships with vendors and other stakeholders, and hold non-performing vendors accountable, requiring corrective action and terminating agreements where necessary.
Develop a vendor base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilizing global market exploration, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies.
Ensure adherence to departmental budget in purchasing agreements.
Evaluate and develop processes to streamline the purchasing function of the business.
Maintain records of inventory to determine when new goods need to be ordered.
Analyze trends, delivering upon change improvement opportunities that provide efficiency gains or financial savings with vendors.
Compile data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with a variety of policies and industry standards.
Supporting all functions of the Supply Chain team as assigned.
Assist the VP of Supply Chain with special requests and projects that may be outside of day-to-day responsibilities.
The Ideal Candidate has:
Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably in the cannabis, perishable goods, or CPG industry.
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business, commerce, economics, or related field, or equivalent in training and experience.
Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape of the cannabis market in Canada and internationally is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, data management and analysis.
Entrepreneurial drive with a strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple shifting priorities.
Access to reliable transportation to work full-time hours as scheduled (40 hours per week)
The ability to provide a criminal record check that is clear of any charges that could be related or have a direct correlation to the position or company.
