Your challenge!

The Process Engineer's mission is to deploy his or her unit's operational strategy by providing technical support for equipment and applying business processes. You ensure that continuous improvement projects run smoothly in order to limit their impact on the plant's activities. You ensure that your unit's OHS objectives are met by supporting the supervisor in applying good maintenance and reliability practices and by maximizing equipment availability, quality and efficiency. By supporting the continuous improvement process in your unit you contribute to the optimization of its operational efficiency and performance through improvements in manufacturing processes and product quality. Individual responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting process opportunities.
  • Process optimization trials, analysis and recommendations.
  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints.
  • Machine break analysis, troubleshooting and recommendations.
  • Chemical and paper trials, analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepare monthly Quality and Production reports.
  • Prepare and ship samples for compliance testing. Analyze and react to outside lab compliance testing.
  • Remain current on new mechanical and chemical technologies for process improvement potential.
  • Perform calibration testing on mill instrumentation.
  • Assist with other duties as needed.
Experiences and strengths
  • 1-5 years of experience
  • Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing preferred
  • MFG experience required. Pulp and paper preferred
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy, particularly Word, SAP and Excel
  • Understanding of financial concepts (cost analysis, budgets), technical acumen, ability to express complex procedures in simple terms, understanding chemical concepts, analytical thinker.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must work well with others.
