We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our team of skilled professionals at our Hawkesbury, ON Location.
Position Overview:
The Process Engineer is a member of the operational management team that is focused on the performance of the manufacturing process with respect to safety, quality, volume and cost. The Process Engineer is orientated toward continuous improvement through process optimization and innovation. The Process Engineer is expected to demonstrate shop floor leadership while enhancing the professional image of the operational management team through appropriate actions and communication. This position reports directly to the Plant Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement, identify improvement opportunities, cost savings, quality improvements, productivity, and reliability
  • Analyze production downtime and recommend/implement actions
  • Analyze work tasks and develop Standard Operating Procedures, and Visual Work Instructions
  • Develop systems to measure and categorize waste and seconds
  • Implement process improvements to reduce the production of waste and seconds
  • Design industrial trials and present proposals to the operational team for approval
  • Drive progress through a rigorous approach to process standardization by reviewing the process and identifying process parameters that can be locked in place to reduce process variability
  • Develop, monitor and execute project plans (Project Management)
  • Ensure site compliance with corporate process standards
  • All other duties as assigned

Daily
  • Perform daily tour of the Production line. Focus on Process Stability, Statistical Process Control (SPC), sheet profile and Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Review color changes from previous day and look for opportunities to improve production quality
  • Review daily downtime
  • Attend Daily Morning Meetings (DMM)

Weekly
  • Manage the disposal of landfill and recycled material
  • Consolidate the waste report
  • Trend the progress in reducing seconds
  • Create Summary Report on daily tour of the Production line and report and gaps

Quarterly
  • Prepare report detailing top issues generated from efficiency loss for previous month
  • Partner with the Purchasing Agent on Plant inventory process
  • Assist with reporting and participate in plant monthly and quarterly Balanced Scorecard (BSC) reviews

Yearly
  • Prepare site documentation for Plant internal Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) audit
  • Participate in Plant internal Process audit

Occasional
  • Lead process improvement teams
  • Conduct problem solving exercises
  • Lead Plant tours
  • Assist with investigation of customer complaints
  • Back up Production Supervisor from time to time

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in Process, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Project implementation skills from initial stages to completion
  • Proven track record of successful projects on schedule and within budget
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • 5S knowledge and implementation preferred
  • Has s solid understanding or Risk Management
  • Excellent Organizational and Communication skills
  • Effective planning, prioritizing and time management skills
  • Structured problem solving skills
  • Excellent with math s
  • Strong statistical analysis skills
  • Ability to mentor/coach Plant Co-Op students
  • Excellent team player
  • Demonstrate IKO’s core values and leadership behaviors
  • Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, AutoCAD/Inventor
  • Bilingual, ability to speak, read and write in English and French
