The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Process & Controls Superintendent to join our North Atlantic Contracts team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

The role will lead the development, implementation and/or improvement of contract management processes and reporting routines, including the development of guidelines, procedures and training documents. The Superintendent will provide leadership and supervision to a team who will oversee and manage key contract management processes and categories/contracts within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with manager and team to achieve goals and objective of developing a Contractor Performance Management System for Vale\'s North Atlantic business operations.
  • Meets with internal customers, internal stakeholders, vendors as well as the finance group to review and resolve process and governance issues as required.
  • Performs audits and compliance reviews of contracts and contract management processes for adherence and quality control.
  • Provides support in reviewing commercial strategies with a view of identifying potential control gaps and assisting in the development of KPIs.
  • Develops effective lagging and leading metrics to support continuous improvement activities within the Contractor Performance Management Area.
  • Provides support to Contract Managers and Contract Inspectors to ensure vendors execute work in a manner that meets the terms of the contract regarding safety, productivity, schedule, quality and deliverables.
  • Manages a team of analysts, cost controllers and coordinators that provide contract management support to the Contractor Performance Management Area, Contract Managers and Contract Inspectors.
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar position.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in identifying control gaps or areas of risk exposure in business and contract management activities.
  • Solid knowledge in developing processes and procedures to strengthen internal controls and reduce risk.
  • Understanding of Vale\xe2\x80\x99s ERP system and business reporting systems/tools. Examples: SAP, Business Objects, Nimbi, etc.
  • A basic understanding of Vale\xe2\x80\x99s procurement and contract management norms and procedures.
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams.
