We are seeking an encouraging and creative private duty Caregiver/Support Worker who can offer a mix of childcare, personal care & homemaking. Requirements and Qualifications:
2+ years previous experience as a high-functioning/multi-tasking nanny or caregiver, education assistant, therapy assistant, or related role, strongly desirable
Diploma or some completed post-secondary study
in a relevant social, education or health-related profession. Examples include: Practical Nurse, Disability Studies, Therapy Assistant, Education.
Confidence with leisurely/recreational swimming and willingness to support swimming lessons and waterplay
Knowledge or willingness to grow in specialties of Aided Language Stimulation and/or Alternative and Augmentative Communication
Mastery of English language
Class 5 Drivers License with access to a reliable personal vehicle and applicable insurance policy
Criminal record/vulnerable sector background checks, valid within a year
Strength to support lifts and transfers up to 75lbs and participate in recreational activity
Responsibilities and Duties:
Facilitating friendships, regular childhood activities, and meaningful indoor and outdoor play at home and in the community (e.g., extra-curricular recreation, swimming lessons, activity centre visits, etc.)
Facilitating schoolwork & other developmental/therapeutic activities (including speech, occupational, and recreation therapy) that cultivate learning, identity, wellbeing, contribution and belonging; this includes activity planning and prep
Assisting the family with home health/personal care routines for a child with developmental disabilities (e.g., feeding, dressing, medication & oxygen administration, lifts/transfers/mobility); training is provided.
Childcare for elementary-aged children during non school hours
All range of homemaking tasks such as cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, outdoor chores, & errands
Respite caregiving on occasional evenings and weekends.
Compliance with all relevant infection prevention and control measures adopted by the family
Terms:
Rate of pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour, commensurate to education & experience. There are no extended benefits.
Hours: Hours: 25-35 hrs per week
Scheduling: Flexibility required. Mostly mid-afternoon to early evening hours. Occasional late evening and weekend day shifts required.
